The big news here is that the radio giant’s Premiere Networks will continue to syndicate Beck’s radio show, and extend its relationship handling ad sales for the former Fox News pundit’s digital properties. The five-year deal should deliver $100M to Beck according to The New York Times, which was pre-briefed on the terms. But the most intriguing part of the announcement is at the end: Beck’s live-streamed video network, GBTV, has a deal with animation production company Icebox “to jointly develop an animated comedy series.” Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, the ball’s in your court.
LOS ANGELES, June 11, 2012 – Premiere Networks, the leading audio content provider in the country, and Mercury Radio Arts, Glenn Beck’s multi-media production company, announced today that they are renewing and extending their agreements to syndicate The Glenn Beck Program, America’s third-highest-rated radio show. The Glenn Beck Program has grown tremendously since their last agreement. Over the past five years, the program has experienced ratings growth of nearly 50%, and has added nearly 200 radio affiliates, bringing its current total to more than 400 stations (Source: Arbitron, SP’06 to FA’11, Nationwide, Exact Times, AQH, P 12+). In addition, 2012 marks The Glenn Beck Program’s 10th anniversary in national radio syndication.
Mercury and Premiere have also extended their longstanding alliance in digital media. Mercury’s digital businesses include streaming video network GBTV, news and information site TheBlaze.com, e-commerce marketplace Markdown.com and the fan portal GlennBeck.com. Premiere will continue its representation of Mercury’s digital properties to advertisers and sponsors.
Beck stated: “Simply put, Premiere is the best in the business. Over the past ten years, they have proven to be a true partner in every sense of the word.”
“Since we began our relationship 10 years ago, Glenn has not only built an incredible connection to his audience on multiple platforms, but has also established himself as a true talent and visionary,” stated Julie Talbott, Premiere Networks president, content and affiliate relations. “We’re incredibly proud of the continued growth and success of our partnership with Glenn and Mercury Radio Arts, and look forward to working together for many more years to come.”
Mercury recently launched GBTV, Glenn Beck’s live streaming video network. Since its launch, GBTV has already added a wide range of original programming, including the reality show Independence USA, the kid’s show Liberty Tree House, the news show Real News and the comedy news show The B.S. of A. GBTV also announced a deal with Icebox, the innovative animation production company, to jointly develop an animated comedy series. GBTV features Glenn’s show, which is airs live weekdays and is broadcast from Dallas, Texas.

Eww. The idea that this hate-monger is going to do an animated series makes me cringe. Luckily it will probably do about as well as Allan Gregory and Napoleon Dynamite and quickly get canceled.
Wait, his current show isn’t already an animated comedy series? Either that or else he’s just looking to go 2 for 2.
obviously Clear Channel has money to throw away. Give it to charity instead of this buffoon
Hate monger… hmm, he may be a lot of things but hate? I know that hollyweird is chock full of progressives that most post-Weimar Republic political officials would love, but hate monger? Please.
Don’t even bother, Brian. The three guys above (and the endless others who will inevitably follow) have likely never even seen or listened to Glenn Beck, and are merely hard-left sheep who can’t argue the issues, and therefore can only poison the well.
In other words: it ain’t worth it.
He can’t just be wrong, he has to be evil. If he’s wrong, we have to stop and explain why. That requires engagement, which takes us away from more lofty pursuits. On the other hand, if he’s evil we don’t have to explain or engage at all. We can feel like responsible adults even as we call him nasty names for disagreeing with us. See how it’s a win-win?
Unbelievable. A corporation “gives” $100 millions to this hate monger. I truly must be getting older, wiser and smarter as I say: I don’t know where we are headed as a nation. The nation is struggling and this is the investment to make by business leaders? BAFFLING.
Kirk, the answer is very simple – you are totally out of touch with reality. Just because he says something you don’t like doesn’t make him a hate-monger. It just shows how utterly intolerant you are of anyone who has a different opinion. As for the money, it’s simple also. He has an audience. People listen to him. More people listen to him than all the liberal commentators (funny that you don’t mention their tirades) put together. Advertisers like to run their commercials on shows with an audience.
I’m somewhat curious about the animated show considering most of his “political” career has been an apparent comedic routine. I’m not even saying that as an insult. Wasn’t Beck somewhat of a comedian before the whole Fox News thing? The extreme position he took on dome issues and all the crying just made it seem like a more serious version what Colbert does.
