Cloris Leachman has jumped in the ring on Raging Bull II. The Emmy winning actress will play the mother of Penelope Ann Miller in the film. Raging Bull II is combo prequel and sequel to Martin Scorsese 1980 film about boxer Jake LaMotta. Scorsese and the original Bull star Robert De Niro are not involved with Raging Bull II which is written and directed by Martin Guigui. The Sunset Pictures film, based like the 1980 movie on LaMotta’s 1970 memoir, stars William Forsythe as the aged LaMotta and Mojean Aria as the younger version. The film also stars Miller, Joe Montegna, Paul Sorvino and Natasha Henstridge. Raging Bull II is currently shooting in LA. The Raising Hope star and Dancing With The Stars contestant has three other movies coming out over the next year. There’s The Oogieloves and the Big Balloon Adventure, which is set to come out on August 29, 2012. There’s also the crime comedy Gambit with Cameron Diaz and Colin Firth, which is scheduled for release on October 11. Leachman also has another comedy Adult World with John Cusack and Emma Roberts, which is out next spring. Leachman is repped by Innovative Artists and managed by Juliet Green

Cloris Leachman is a OSCAR winning actress and deserves to be titled as such even if she’s more known for her TV work.
Somehow I doubt I was the only one who scrolled down to see some parody clip, with Leachman playing the much older character played initially by Cathy Moriarty.
It would have been better if this wasn’t called RAGING BULL II. Calling it RAGING BULL II immediately draws comparisons to Scorsese’s masterpiece.
If they want to make a new movie about Jake La Motta, that’s fine. Just don’t call it RAGING BULL II.
Like button.
Raging Bull 2.
That must have been the pitch meeting of the century. Unfucking believable.
That being said, Cloris is a gem.
I live in Hollywood and noticed a Raging Bull 2 location permit taped to our door. I thought it was an elaborate Funny or Die sketch, or some porn movie using that title as a goof. I had no idea they’re actually making a serious Raging Bull prequel.
Although in a town where Rob Schneider is still working nothing should surprise me anymore.
Rob Schneider is still working?
Based on that cast, that bull is going to rage directly to video.
I mean…really? Raging Bull 2? Sounds like it’s going to be a raging failure of a film.
And the Oscar goes to Ordinary People II
Take a bow, your work here is done.
alright, i laughed out loud. thanks for that.
@ Best Picture: hee hee.
Deadline reports on Straight to video releases. SWeet.
Raging Bull II: Ragingier Bullier
Wow! This is great news. After this they can start working on the prequel to “Citizen Kane”!
I am very curious to see the story of how the sled was built and what kind of wood they used.
“Scorsese and the original Bull star Robert De Niro are not involved with Raging Bull II”
FAIL.
Is April’s fools already? This can’t be real.
Just when you think remake hell can’t get any worse, Hollywood tops itself. This has “bad idea” written all over it.
Deadline should ask Marty and Bobby what they think of this.
That should be TRAVIS BICKLE: THE EARLY YEARS, a prequel about Travis Bickle’s life before he became a taxi driver.
I haven’t been this excited for a sequel since “Grandpires” with Billy Crystal and Helen Mirren! #sarcasm
Love Cloris, though.
Wow, this came out of fucking nowhere. I am shocked.
All films must be seen in order to be judged. Great films have been made without using marquee names. Let’s see the film and its content without passing judgement on the title of the film. “Thumbs Up” to the innovative writers and crew members that have the guts to stand up to Hollywood. Can’t wait to judge the film when released
Are we allowed to say Raging Bullshit? This is just riding on the original’s coattails, and, given the filmmaker’s earlier work, mediocre, at best, don’t hold your breath for a classic. As for the cast, they don’t care. They want to work.
You do even know what talent is. Shame on you. I think it’s a great idea, great cast and it’s going to BIG!!
P.S. maybe I’m being uncharitable, in a vitriolic fashion. But I can’t help seeing this as an obvious coattail-riding maneuver.
Cloris is an Oscar winner!! State her achievements at there highest please.
