There is an awards show where Community is the most nominated program! The quirky NBC comedy series leads the pack at the 2nd annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards with six nominations, including best comedy series and best comedy actor Joel McHale, followed by another NBC Thursday comedy, Parks & Recreation. Happy Endings should have gotten the Best Comedy nom over New Girl. Happy that Damon Wayans and Casey Wilson got their deserved nods, although Eliza Coupe also did some incredible work this season.
Happy Endings is literally the worst show on television. Unoriginal & Uninspired.
And you probably think two and a half men is the best thing that ever happened to television.
Happy Endings is a fantastic and hilarious show that’s been constantly getting funnier and funnier.
You, Laura, are unoriginal and uninspired.
Bob’s Burgers? Really?
Community? Parks & Rec? Really? The most unfunny and lowest rated shows. Since when critics know anything about what’s good?
LOVE Parks and Rec! And Nick Offerman, finally!
Separately, very glad to see Bill Nighy nominated, I like anything he’s in.
Have you ever actually seen either show? They’re both outstanding. I’d love to know what shows you do think are funny.
I agree. I can’t believe anyone watch’s them let alone nominate them for anything
Both excellent shows. If you work in the business, please quit.
Since when do ratings indicate the quality of a show? You should really just stop commenting about TV shows, you obviously have no idea what you’re talking about.
Disappointing. No Boardwalk Empire or Michael Pitt? No Anna Torv for her amazing work on Fringe?
And if they really wanted to nominate something from Starz then it should have been someone from the amazing series Spartacus (Lucy Lawless for example) rather than Kelsey Grammer and his awful Boss.
OMG NO SPARTACUS AND GAME OF THRONES BARELY GETS A MENTION ASIDE FROM THE EVER POPULAR PETER DINKLAGE WHO IS AMAZING THIS SEASON SURELY OTHER MEMBERS OF THE CAST WERE EQUALLY JUST AS TALENTED BUT ALAS NO MENTION AND THE FACT THAT THE AWESOME ACTORS FROM SPARTACUS SERIES HAVE BEEN LEFT OUT SUCH AS VIVA BIANCA, CRAIG PARKER, LUCY LAWLESS ETC…. ONLY LEADS ME TO CONCLUDE THAT THE PANEL THAT VOTES FOR THESE ARE FICKLE KLOSET KARDASHIAN WATCHERS (that’s right I said it)
Anyone who types in all caps should be ignored,
nothing worth reading, just desperate try for attention. Are you an actor or something?
These are always the best nominations. Kudos to them for recognizing Happy Endings in particular, which was the funniest comedy on TV this year. I’d have picked Eliza Coupe over Casey Wilson for this past season, but Wilson is great too.
Where is Alfie Allen?
Nick Cannon has best reality show host and no Jeff Probst? Clearly these people don’t watch reality tv.
To be fair, Probst has won a lot of Emmys for hosting “Survivor”, so I think Cannon in the Critic’s Choice awards kinda evens out.
Also: The View gets nominated for talk show, but Late Late w/ Craig Ferguson does not?!?
The reality choices are weird.
I just caught up with Game of Thrones in the last three months and even though we are in an era of amazing tv dramas, Game of Thrones is head and shoulders above any other show right now.
But they got so much right it’s incredible!
Actually all that is clear is your an idiot
30 Rock completely shut out?! It’s still a solid show — Tina and Alec continue to impress. Still, I’m glad to see shows that aren’t Modern Family getting some deserved recognition.
Hatfields and McCoys just got in under the wire there!
Happy to see John Noble recognized for Fringe.
Anna Torv should have been on the list,
Anna Torv was the Oustanding actor on Fringe seaosn 4, she was brilliant in each second an screen, Amber, Blue, Altlivia, the change from one to teh other memories beautiful, subtle acting,
So underrated.
Anna torv did all the hard work on the Peter home storyline, she had the most difficult part to play, she had to teh mind trick stuff without all the aid Noble gets,
Everything Anna Torv is amazing, and she does not get the writing, and her backstory after 4 seasons still is only a few facts.
So critics what does Anna Torv has to do to get some regonition?
Once agian Noble gets all the credit for Fringe, for what?
His Overacting”?
Noble as Supporting actor getting all the writing, backstory, attentionseeking scenes. tearjerker scenes. the oneliners?
Noble even getting the central role in a storyline as cortexiphan that should have had an active Olivia Dunham/Anna Torv central?
As Overrated as John Noble is , just as Underrated is Anna Torv.
I’m really happy for Gillian Anderson’s nomination! Her performance in Great Expectations was AMAZING!
Yay for Community, Happy Endings, and the (most amazing comedy out there with heart) Parks & Rec.
Kathryn Hahn & Paul Rudd were both outstanding in their roles this season. Also, kudos to Eden Sher of the much too under-appreciated family show, The Middle!
Game of Thrones should have been nominated for more acting awards.
Julia Louis Dreyfus – Veep – really ? I’m shocked to hear its even a comedy. Its awful
clearly you haven’t seen more than one episode of Veep. Episode 5 got her the Emmy already.
I don’t know about this. While I agree Louis-Dreyfus is fantastic on Veep, I still think Poehler is more deserving. She was terrific this season and her performance in the season finale alone should win her this, the Emmy and the Golden Globe.
Sherlock
yes
yES
i’ll be really happy if the best drama contenders remian the same for the emmys. spot on!.
John Noble has been killing it for years. Glad to see his work finally recognized.
You most be joking.
Noble needs all the writing, the gadgets, the tearjerker and attentionegetting scenes, all to play his favourite Walter..
As soon as he has to play another Walter, see 1-tone Walternate, or this season Broken and Poor walter, he goes Overacting , and look at me acting.
Noble only wants to play the Walter everyone loves, as soon as he has to play a version that is not that, he complains, that is not a great actor at all.
That is someone who is only concerned about himself, and he is calling himself supporting actor.
Noble said in May Olivia was an awful horrible woman, nice to hear from a man who is to agraid to get some criticism.
Noble would never be able to play a character like Olivia Dunham, as he needs all the help he can get.
A great actor is someone who creates characters from nothing, who is not afraid to play a character that is not easy to like, and who handles each and every storyline without extra aid and without complaning.
That great actor is Anna Torv.
And she is so so so Underrated.
There are some fresh names like Maggie Siff or Max Greenfield that deserve to be on the lists of the big awards shows, but all in all this is even worse than the Emmys or Globes.
Only 1 frakking nomination for Boardwalk Empire? Not a single nomination for Luck or Walking Dead? No Jeremy Irons or Walton Goggins? Instead they waste slots on the overrated Good Wife and Downton Soapey.
No nomination for Louie, Wilfred or Curb as Best Comedy? But Big Bang Theory?
I thought this were the Critics Awards and not the MTV-Series Awards or Peoples Choice Awards.
Girls is one of the only comedies on premium cable that is dark and funny at the same time thanks to Lena Dunhams witty dialogue. Lena Dunham is a great writer. The reason Girls works is because it let’s the audience know that it’s aware of the characters unlikability and it makes fun of them. For example in the pilot when Hannah proclaims herself the voice of the generation, there’s a shot of her parents looking disgusted. Her parents are a metaphor for the show saying that this character is a bit unlikable and deluded.
A lot of critics are liking this show because Lena Dunham is doing stuff never done before on a premium cable show.
Lenas daring to show that both males and females are pretty messed up. She’s going against 60 years of tv viewing training that you can only like a show or movie if they have characters that are rootable. People don’t know how to react to the characters not being likable. So, they just dismiss it as the show being terrible when it’s anything but terrible.
Lena Dunham is showing that a show can be great by having interesting characters who are not likable.
Michael Scott was a pretty unlikeable character. Girls is good, but I wouldn’t call it a comedy–it’s a drama with funny moments.
Community is the best ensemble comedy on the air and quite frankly i haven’t seen timing and chemistry like this in a cast since MASH. This is the show that, after it goes out of production, suddenly millions of people who’ve never seen it discover it and try to say “Yeah, i’ve been a fan since the beginning.”
No Jon Bernthal for The Walking Dead? Hatfields and McCoys needed more noms. At least they noticed Katey Sagal.
Very happy to see John Noble there! But sad that Anna Torv missed out…
Eden Sher! She is awesome! Well deserved nomination.
As much as I love Peter Dinklage and his epic work in ‘Game Of Thrones,’ I don’t really get why he is always singled out… I’m not arguing that he doesn’t deserve recognition, just think that multiple other ‘Game Of Thrones’ performances are equally good so not sure how they pick Peter every time.
Also, as much as I LOVE Casey Wilson in ‘Happy Endings,’ Eliza Coupe is amazing and I don’t understand how Casey got picked over her. Like I said, love Casey and think she does a great job, but Eliza is brilliant. *shrugs* Would have been even cooler for her to be nominated alongside Damon Wayans Jr, especially since their characters are so intertwined. But meh, I’m happy that ‘Happy Endings’ is getting some awards love.
Happy Endings is a tricky show when it comes to nominating because all of them are so good on it. I think Casey’s nom is deserved as she seemed to be the show’s first breakout character, thinking back to season one she was usually the best part of the show, whereas in season two everyone was amazing, thats when things really started to click when they figured out what to do with everyone else in the cast.
All a bunch of bull Sh*t. Big bang theory so much better, Games of thrones is the best show on tv. Who ever picked this is a moron, wont watch this crap for sure!!!!!
Bob’s Burgers – yeah! Great choice.
