With the CW’s first summer original series, The Catalina and Breaking Pointe, already on the air, the network has set premiere dates for the rest of its summer lineup, the first such in the network’s six-year history. That includes Season 2 of softly-rated Canadian drama The L.A. Complex, which will launch on July 17 and air in the Tuesday 9 PM slot, and the musical chairs-themed game show Oh Sit!, which premieres on Aug. 15, with Jamie Kennedy and MTV Live‘s Jessi Cruickshank hosting. The CW’s new singing competition series The Next: Fame Is At Your Doorstep — or TN:FIAYD, will premiere on Aug. 16 with Joe Jonas, Nelly, Gloria Estefan and John Rich as mentors.
The late launches for Oh Sit! and The Next right after the Olympics are part of the CW’s new strategy laid out at the upfronts to roll out its fall lineup later that usual, in October, in order to avoid the steamrolling premiere week and give its new shows a better chance. Also key in keeping the lights on in September leading to the network’s fall launch will be America’s Next Top Model, whose 19th cycle, College Edition, will premiere on Aug. 24 on its new Friday night. This marks Top Model‘s first summer premiere since its first cycle on UPN. The CW’s summer lineup also includes burn-off Remodeled, which returns on July 9 for a full run, including its aired and unaired episodes.

Is there a need for a college edition of America’s Next Top Model?
Sweet that LA Complex will be returning. I’m addicted to that show.
Does any of this really matter when nobody watches these shows? The CW can’t get a hit on the air with the current team over there.
Why in the world is the CW bringing back LA Complex? This show did horrendous numbers that wouldn’t even air on local access television, let alone a struggling network like the CW. I understand they want to be ahead of the others when it comes to launching shows, but other than ANTM, these shows are going to tank badly and it’s just one more step closer to the possible extinction of this network a year from now.
19 cycles? Tyra, girl? Let it go. Who’s watching ANTM besides Tyra Banks? Pull the plug/
Two seasons per year of ANTM – and employing upwards of a hundred union workers in L.A.. Keep it on the air CW.
One of the handful of union reality / competition shows. Good on you, CW.
