CBS Television Studios has renewed its deal with producer Dan Jinks and his Dan Jinks Co. for a second year. The extension comes on the heels of a successful first year for Jinks as a solo TV producer at CBS Studios. He executive produced Jennie Snyder Urman’s CW medical drama pilot Emily Owens, MD starring Mamie Gummer, which was picked up to series for fall. “I couldn’t be happier working with David Stapf and his incredible team at CBS Television Studios,” Jinks said.
Jinks segued to the deal with CBS Studios last summer after being partnered with Bruce Cohen for 13 years, the last six based at Warner Bros. TV. Emily Owens, MD marks Jinks’ fourth consecutive pilot to go to series, following three he produced with Cohen, ABC’s Pushing Daisies and Traveler and Lifetime’s Side Order of Life. Jinks and Cohen launched their producing partnership with 1999′s Sam Mendes-directed American Beauty, for which they won a Best Picture Oscar. Jinks’ feature producing credits with Cohen also include Milk and Big Fish. Former Jinks/Cohen executive Nick Nantell, who stayed with Jinks after the split, serves as SVP Development at The Dan Jinks Co.
