With the tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the zeitgeist with the breakout ABC series Once Upon A Time and two Snow White movies this year, Disney Junior is revisiting the classic story with The 7D, a new animated series that has been put into production for a 2014 premiere. Described as a comedic take on the world of Seven Dwarfs in a contemporary storybook world, 7D takes place in Jollywood where Queen Delightful relies on the 7D — Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc — to keep the kingdom in order. Standing in their way are two laughably evil villains, Grim and Hildy Gloom, who plot to take over the kingdom by stealing the magical jewels in the 7D’s mine. While the names of the dwarfs are the same as in the 1937 Disney animated classic, their look is very different. The characters were designed by Fish Hooks creator Noah Z. Jones; Tom Ruegger (Animaniacs) exec produces.

In other circumstances, I would rant about how there’s no Originality left in Hollywood…but if Tom Ruegger is behind it, I might be pleasantly surprised.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. See you in 2014 with the hopefully pleasant surprise.
No love for Stealthy the Dwarf?
“I’ve never believed in doing sequels. I didn’t want to waste the time I have doing a sequel; I’d rather be using that time doing something new and different. It goes back to when they wanted me to do more pigs. I reluctantly made three more pigs. They wanted me to make more with the dwarfs in it, the seven dwarfs, and I said no, Snow White will be the sequel. Let it be repeated again. So it worked out.” — Walt Disney
“Well, we had been stuck with mice and pigs. Now with Snow White a huge hit, the shout went up for more dwarfs. Top dwarfs with dwarfs? Why try?” — Walt Disney
That’s disgraceful. I can’t believe Disney would put their name on that. It looks like a recreational-chemical-fueled dream sequence from Ed, Edd and Eddy.
But hey, I’m sure they get a good rate from FedEx to send the drawings from the studio in Anywherebutamerica. At least the talented former animators from the intentionally destroyed Orlando studio won’t get any on them when this one splashes into the bowl.
Hey Disney? Nothing but love for you fellas.
God, those are horrible. What the eff is Disney thinking?
Jesus Christ. Just who the hell is running Disney these days? Krusty the Klown? Must every new TV toon show look like bad children’s book art?
Embarrassing and I work here.
People are harsh. I know all the kids I babysit will love this show and the character designs. Noah Z. Jones has a simplistic style but thats not a bad thing and his quirky characters always make me laugh. This is what kids enjoy right now, I’m excited to see how it turns out.
Those are the silliest looking dwarfs i’ve ever seen….I LIKE IT!!!! Looks like another Hit for Disney Junior!
