EXCLUSIVE: Kenny Wormald and Jonathan Daniel Brown have been set to star in Kid Cannabis, a fact-based indie about two guys who smuggle pot between the borders of Idaho and British Columbia. Wormald got his break playing Ren (the Kevin Bacon role) in the Footloose remake while Brown starred in Project X. Stockwell wrote the script for Kid Cannabis, based on a Rolling Stone article. Stockwell’s Code Name Geronimo, a drama about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden, sold in a big Cannes deal to The Weinstein Company. TWC plans to release in early fall, putting the film before the Kathryn Bigelow-directed Zero Dark Thirty, a drama on the same subject which Sony Pictures will release December 19. Wormald is repped by UTA and Caliber Media, Brown by CAA and Black Box Management and Stockwell by ICM Partners.

Congrats to Jonathan Daniel Brown, he was fairly funny in Project X despite the shoddy writing. If he wants to take his career to the next level though I think he should step back and seriously consider his representation. For one thing, the walls of CAA’s golden age empire are tumbling down faster than you can say “package deal.” And for another, I happen to know from a close friend that one half of the two person team at Black Box (I won’t name names, but his first name begins with an M) is a real c u next tuesday not only in his professional life, but even more so in his personal one.

Actually Agent X, WME exec asst is dead on about the M half of Black Box Management. HE’s one of the worst representatives/people that I’ve met in this town and one of the few people who I truly wish ill will toward. I think the issue is that he needs to “figure out what team he palys for” if you catch my drift…

I tried posting this yesterday and I’m not sure why the moderator didn’t let it through. Anyways, although I don’t yet work in film/tv, as somebody who knows M very well I can attest to the fact that he’s one of the most driven, intelligent, and caring people I’ve ever met. Anybody he represents is extremely lucky to have him on their team.
agreed. i don’t know anything about black box management…never heard of em…but i know for a fact he’s not getting the attention he deserves from the people over at caa.
