FX is getting back into business with Rescue Me co-creator/star Denis Leary. The cable network has handed a pilot order to comedy Bronx Warrants. Created by Dean Lorey (Arrested Development), it is based on the real life exploits of David Joglar and Richard Wetzel. Bronx Warrants is a comedy revolving around a group of errant warrant detectives in the Bronx assigned to arrest individuals with outstanding warrants. With bonuses paid out for each “body” they bring in, the detectives are out to get rich rather than dole out justice. Lorey, Leary and Jim Serpico serve as executive producers; Tom Sellitti is co-executive Producer, Joglar and Wetzel are co-producers. Bronx Warrants is produced by FX Prods. “Dean Lorey has taken this unique police squad and created a hilarious and surprising world of characters and situations,” said Eric Schrier, Head of Series Development for FX and EVP of FX Prods. Leary, Serpico and Sellitti and their Apostle Pictures produced FX’s long-running drama Rescue Me as well as the praised ABC comedy The Job. The company is behind another comedy, Sirens, which is finalizing a deal for a pilot order at USA Network. The paramedic show was created by Leary and Bob Fisher, with Fox TV Studios producing.

Finally, a TV series I look forward to! But will the brilliant, underrated Mr. Leary star in it? “The Ref” is the most consistently hilarious comedy I’ve ever seen but, thanks to its misleading title and Disney’s throwing it away, by the time word-of-mouth began to spread the film had been yanked from theaters. Among today’s comedians (make that “comic actors”), Leary reigns supreme!
Could not agree more!!
The work he did on RESCUE was so unappreciated.
If leary isn’t in it, I can’t imagine t to be successful
Oh I’m SO happy they are bringing the show “The job” back!!!! What this isn’t the job lol. Oh how I like to throw barbs at Dr Dennis Leary esp. after killing Johnny off on Rescue me (you As$%@%&!). But seriously, ok that was kinda serious because Dennis is an A#^#$^ lol but i’m glad he’s back to doing comedy again. I think I was one of the few 200 people that watched “the job” and enjoyed it. The tongue and cheek humor was hilarious and I’m sure I can expect better now that he has some directing credits under that thick Irish head of his lol. Welcome back ya dang drunken Irish!
Totally agree with comment by joe L there should have been multiple Emmys for rescue me
Just now watching Rescue Me on Netflix – loving it – what an incredible group of talented people. Denis Leary, Michael Lombardi, Steven Pasquale, Daniel Sunjunta, Jim Scurti, Callie Thorne, Andrea Roth OMG you all ROCK!!! Denis put together another show that you all star in – PLEASE!
Awesome!
I have only bought 4 series on DVD — The Job is one of them.
Rescue Me was a little uneven but overall superior to nearly every Emmy drama-winner of the last 8 years. Definitely under-appreciated, as were most of the actors on the series.
Dennis Leary “Rescue Me” was real and anyone who works in civil service saw a version of thier lige and was deserving of many awards. It is rare that a setirs can continually give bith to story after story with great sucess!!!
Denis Leary & the whole cast and crew of Rescue Me was totally overlooked and unapperciated. I have yet to find a show with the comedy, drama and suspense since Rescue Me went off the air!!!
Ya Im still a little crappy with Denis for killing off Johnny but that is one of my fav. episodes of Rescue Me!!!! Kudo’s FX for giving Denis more to do….I hope he is going to be in this series I need some Denis time!!!!
