Joe Mantegna’s Acquaviva Productions will produce Live Forever, a documentary on sci-fi icon Ray Bradbury. The Criminal Minds star will also narrate the 90-minute film. The Fahrenheit 451 author died June 5 at age 91, having seen several of his influential works made into films. The authorized documentary is directed and co-produced by Michael O’Kelly. Acquaviva’s Danny Ramm will also co-produce. Edward James Olmos, Dennis Franz, Malcolm McDowell, Hugh Hefner, Jean-Michel Cousteau and the late Roy Disney are among those featured in the film, which is scheduled to be released in December. A possible four-hour TV miniseries version may follow.

If Ray Harryhausen is not part of this it won’t be right. The Rays were BEST friends and greatly influenced each other’s craft.
Don’t forget Stuart Gordon who directed Ray Bradbury’s “The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit”, also starring Joe Mantegna. This non sci-fi story is a wonderful heartfelt gem of a film. I met Ray Bradbury on the set in Boyle Heights where the story takes place. He was a delight. Disney didn’t even put it out on DVD, let alone Blu-ray disc.
Well, Ray Harryhausen is very old, and lives in England now. However, the production has been in contact with him. We hope to pay tribute to Harryhausen’s magic by using stop motion in a number of scenes.
I love Joe Mantegna, I knew him in High School a super nice guy not to mention very talented. Looking forward to his new project.
My wife Natasha and I were close personal friends of Ray Bradbury and I have written an adaptation of Dandelion Wine, which we are trying to make into a feature film. We are working with Mike Medavoy. Would love to speak with Joe Mantegna about this project – it was Ray’s dream that this film be made.
