Harold & Kumar star John Cho has closed a deal to join the cast of new NBC comedy series Go On as a regular. The single-camera comedy stars Matthew Perry as charming and cocky radio sportscaster Ryan King who is getting over the death of his wife with the help of the members of his support group. Cho guest starred in the pilot as Ryan’s boss who refuses to put him back on the air until he seeks counseling. The character will now become regular, marking Cho’s first regular series role since ABC drama FlashForward.

Cho has been part of several major feature franchises. In addition to Harold & Kumar, where he plays one of the title characters, he also has co-starring roles in the Star Trek and American Pie franchises. He was last seen in the fourth American Pie movie and recently wrapped the upcoming Star Trek sequel where he plays Hikaru Sulu. The actor, repped by Gersh and Principato-Young, also just wrapped feature comedy ID Theft opposite Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy and will next be seen in the Total Recall reboot with Colin Farrell. On the TV side, Cho and Kal Penn voice the lead characters and produce an animated version of Harold & Kumar for Adult Swim and Lionsgate TV.

In other NBC casting news, Jeremy Jordan, a Tony nominee this year for Newsies, will be joining the second season of musical drama Smash as a new regular. Per our sister site, TVLine, he will play a very sexy Brooklyn-born singer with a self-destructive streak.
