The network’s original movie will star Aunjanue Ellis, Keke Palmer and Sherri Shepherd in the real-life story Abducted: The Carlina White Story. It centers on a girl (Palmer) who after being abducted as an infant from a New York hospital, solved her own kidnapping and reunites with her biological parents 23 years later. It was the first know infant abduction from a NY hospital; White was taken by a desperate wannabe mother (Ellis) who raised her as her own child in Bridgeport, Conn, until White began to suspect something wasn’t right. Lifetime said today that shooting is set for next week in Vancouver for a premiere later this year. Pilgrim Studios (Amanda Knox: Murder On Trial In Italy) is producing, with Craig Piligian an executive producer alongside Mary Martin and Alan Gasmer. Actor Vondie Curtis Hall is directing a script by Elizabeth Hunter (Jumping The Broom).

Fantastic!
And we should care about this retread of a tv movie because ..?????
Because to many people this is a very interesting story.
How do you know it’s a “retread”? & of what? Have you read the script?
We should care because Lifetime is finally doing a film featuring African American stories. This network is normally the White Girl’s Drama channel.
I read the New York Magazine article I’m fairly certain this is based off of. It was riveting stuff, and the relationship Carlina has with her two “mothers” is very complex. Looking forward to seeing Keke Palmer in a dramatic role.
TV movie aside, what the hell is that logo?!
lame….
Lifetime has really been upping the ante with their movies lately, and this story is actually fascinating (I’m from New York and remember reading about the case in the Post). I’m excited to see what they do with it!
Hey Meg and RLS, how long have you been working at Lifetime? Because nobody (I mean nobody!) can feign interest in one of Lifetime’s terrible TV movies these days without actually having a financial stake in it! This is probably Lifetime’s new approach to bad publicity (read: everything related to “Liz & Dick”, their terrible new logo/slogan, etc.) is to have staffers try to “go social media” by posting positive comments flattering of Lifetime.
Okay we all watch movies about kidnapped (White) children all the time. but no one wants to hear anything about a Black baby taken from the hospital and after 23 years the child reunites with her REAL mother. SHAME SHAME SHAME AMERICA!!
So I read the preview and really can’t wait to see it does anyone know the premiere date…
you know what’s so funny about this story no 1 contact the father what’s going on I see it all about the mother and daughter it sad it hurt but like my family say it will be OKAY
she is my cousin regardless we grew up with her being our family and its good to have black movies on lifetime for a change..I feel for the white family too but she is our family too
Lifetime shows a lot of different movies that star several different ethnicities. They even redid Steel Mongolias with an all black leading cast. I’m native American and Hispanic you don’t see that ethnicity represented at all.
ruthie: please give examples of the diversity you see.
The only 1 I am able to think of is “Taken From Me: Tiffany Rubin Story” starring Taraji Henson. Lifetime is redoing Steel Magnolias but it has not aired yet. They are also doing “The Carlina White Story” with KeKe Palmer.
