EXCLUSIVE: Four weeks into its freshman run, I’ve learned that A&E’s new drama series Longmire has been renewed for a second season. The Western-flavored series starring Robert Taylor and Katee Sackhoff premiered with 4.1 million total viewers to become the A&E’s 
most-watched scripted series debut of all time and the highest-rated new cable scripted drama of 2012 among total viewers and adults 25-54 (1.4 million viewers). Over the first four airings, Longmire has averaged 3.9 million total viewers and 5.3 million viewers with Live +7 data for the first 2 weeks.

You must like reality TV like HONEY BOO BOO, if you think LONGMIRE is awful. It’s the best written and acted series on TV right now and the photography is phenomenal. Plots cover important issues in a fresh way. I give it three thumbs up.

It’s a show with potential. The Writers and producers are going to have to either take on some bigger mythology or use a similar formula to that of The Closer by writing smarter episodic plots and fleshing out characters.

I enjoy this show though I’d agree its still finding its bearings a bit, and I have to remind myself that Katee Sackhoff’s character is not named Kara Thrace.
Lou Diamond Phillips is great on this show. I found him only OK on Southland but feel like he’s created a very compelling character on Longmire.
Totally agree with you about Lou. He is in his element on Longmire. I’m also digging Baily Chase, even if his role is somewhat typecast (very similar to Butch on Saving Grace). I was a little surprised that neither of these actors were promoted for being on the show, which would have made it “must see” for me. On a whim I decided to check it out and I’m hooked.
Agree Aries. The whole cast is attractive. Bailey Chase adds some eye candy for the gals and a little bit of a bad boy. I 1st saw him as an unsub on Criminal minds. He shot Garcia.

I agree this is a great show…I enjoy that there is not alot of bad language. I love Lou Diamond Phillips and Robert Taylor their roles are with each other. Hope it stays on a long time.

LOL @ “unwatchable.” I don’t know what you were expecting. I personally like the show. It’s a throwback to the olden days a la “In The Heat of the Night,” rural crime drama featuring a small town with an impossible crime rate
. This and “Justified” would both be on networks if they weren’t chasing that 18-35 demo. My grandmother would like “Longmire” if she was still alive.

Great!!! I have watched since the first night. Great casting job! He is just the right man for the part. I love this show.
I agree about the murder rate in that small town, but hardly any shows on any channel is believable. Not even the so called reality shows. It is all about ratings on their end and entertainment on ours. Look at NCIS, that show is hot in the ratings but how many Navy personnel get murdered every day in real life. Keep in mind we watch it once a week but in the show this is supposed to be an every day job. We watch what we either relate to or what we escape to. Longtime for me is the dinosaur cowboy with the will to do good but the drive to do what is right while trying to correct some of his past wrongs. He has just enough darkside to keep you wondering how he can merge his past into the present without losing who he is. I won’t miss an episode.
