MSNBC has solidified the network’s replacement for the departing Dylan Ratigan show. The Cycle, which debuts Monday, features a permanent cast of four: Conservative commentator S.E. Cupp, author and pundit Touré, Salon writer Steve Kornacki and former congressional candidate Krystal Ball. All four will appear every day, taking turns facilitating discussion. MSNBC revealed specifics on the show to the Huffington Post. Exec producer Steve Friedman and the four co-hosts jokingly begged to differ with suggestions that The Cycle format seems derivative of Fox News Channel’s The Five. “The concept of an ensemble show is extraordinarily old,” said Touré. The intent for The Cycle is that it come across as something like a dinner party with freewheeling conversations about the news — but never degenerating into partisan brawling.

Reacting to criticism that MSNBC was veering too far away from breaking news, Friedman said “Cable television is programs about the news. It’s no longer the news. Nobody turns on to find out what happens, because they already know from you guys. What people are interested in is listening and watching people give their take.”

Good to see MSNBC hired a conservative like S.E. Cppp. My guess is she will be fired a few episodes in for telling the truth.
If by truth you mean “opinion” and “talking points” and “factoids,” then, yes, she’s a truth-telling sage for the ages.
You know she’s an atheist right?
uh, who cares? Does that make her opinions less valid? Be rational.
I miss the good old days before ‘telling me lies that I want to hear’ became ‘telling the truth’.
If she gets fired it’s because she cuts people off, esp. guest when she doesn’t like what they are saying. It is very hard to hear her stupid comments. If I wanted to get her particular point of view, I would watch Fox.
Didn’t Krystal Ball used to dance the lunch show at Scores?
Can anyone please tell me what the heck a “Toure” is? And the name The Cycle stinks, is it about bikes, female reproduction, or doing steroids?
Toure is simply one of the most foremost social observers and music critics out there, having written for Rolling Stone, VIBE, among others magazines.
It’s amazing how certain people just love to wallow in their ignorance and display same to the whole world.
LOL…he’s a BET reject
I know who Toure is, a douche who thinks he’s important enough to get away with going by one name. I hate disco, in Toure’s world, I’m a racist homophobe because of that. I just can’t take someone who has to see racism in EVERYTHING. Oh and he’s a 9-11 truther. Screw your social observer.
“The Talk” is a ripoff of “The Veiw”, and this is a ripoff of “The Five”. Knowing MSNBC this show will be full of anger and hate in no time.
Knowing MSNBC this show will be full of faux bluster and cancelled in no time.
Knowing MSNBC this show will be full of anger and hate in no time.
Well…you conservatives are always saying MSNBC needs to be more like Fox…
>:)
If it was fox the show would only feature blondes and boobs.
I’m a committed liberal…
…and I’m sure she’s a nice woman and all…
…but there is NO WAY I can ever take seriously someone who calls herself “Krystal Ball”.
Jtodd – Krystal Ball is her real name, and she has run for Congress – along with being a very relevant contributor to nearly all MSNBC discussion shows – out of the five, she will probably get her own show and deserves to. Peace
You mean ‘out of the four’.
she doesn’t “call herself Krystall Ball” – it’s her NAME! Blame her parents for sticking her with a stupid moniker, and give her props for living with it.
“The intent for The Cycle is that it come across as something like a dinner party with freewheeling conversations about the news — but never degenerating into partisan brawling.”
Really?! I give it two episodes before they are ripping each others heads off.
Nothing good can come from having an ignorant putz like Toure involved. Good luck MSNBC – you losers.
Epic fail, especially with ill-informed malcontents such as that idiot tour neblett. The sad thing is MSNBC is giving time to the likes of him. The good thing is, it won’t last.
Toure is the man, people love to hate him, as evidenced by the comments, why do conservatives and the (FoxHoles)even bother to watch or criticize MSNBC when their partisan minds are already stuck in the FoxHole.
We don’t.
Nothing but D-bag insults for the most part. Can’t say I’m surprised.
Steve Kornacki is probably going to be the best person on the show.
Sos……its ‘The Four’?
I like that MSNBC skews to a younger audience….unlike FOX, the channel for OWG’s [old white guys]. Dylan Ratigan, and the folks at MOJO host conservatives and liberals alike, and their guests play nicely together in the cable sandbox. Give ‘em a chance.. they may surprize us all.
Yet again another hour I won’t watch msnbc-even if they would put a “news crawl” along the bottom I could turn off the sound-’cannot stand s.cup, or Alex Wagner or chuck Todd. Give me news, not everyone’s lame opinions. I don’t live in beltway fantasyland
I don’t understand why MSNBC allows someone like SE Cipp with her lame opinions to have her own news show. Maybe becouse she not bad looking, just eye candy for TV.
PLEASE, please bring back Dylan…I’m 75 years old and I cannot handle the screeching, and child like behavior of this group. PLEASE talk to each other one at a time…trying to yell your opinion over the others…will NOT be accepted by this viewer…chamge it quickly , like by the end of THIS week or I’m out of here…..
We miss Dylan at our house! Most “news” focus on the election and political bashing. The “D” looked for solutions. I hope he can get involved with some really “BIG” project that address the issues and needs that face our nation. For now, Jane
