
The season two premiere of MTV’s comedy series Awkward in an upgraded 10:30 PM time slot drew 2.2 million viewers and a 2.2 rating among people P12-34 last night. That was up 29% in both total viewers and 12-34 over the July 2011 series premiere when Awkward aired at 11 PM on Mondays, following Teen Mom. Last night, Awkward impressively built onto its lead-in, Jersey Shore offshoot Snooki & JWoww (2.06 million viewers) which was down a modest 6% from its series premiere last Thursday. Including the premiere episode and two encore airings, Awkward drew in a combined 3.8 million total viewers.

So looking at the ratings for what are basically MTV’s second grade shows… the CW still exists why ecactly?
The show is actually really witty so I can see why it is up.

No I agree, it’s very funny. Surprisingly great for an MTV show.
Snooki and JWoww are two of our finest entertainers, the fact that their show is not doing well is a sign of the public’s increasing lack of taste; like pearls before swine!
Awkward is good. I mean surprisingly good. I didn’t watch it last season live but everyone I know was talking about it so I watched all the episodes online. Glad to see its doing well.

Plus the lead is intelligent (off screen, she’s a member of Mensa). Oh…the fact that she’s drop dead gorgeous probably has the 14-69 male demo salivating.
This is a good series – it could’ve been on another network, that’s how good it is. Snooki is lucky to have them
