Maury started in 1991 as The Maury Povich Show. It was revamped in 1998 but it is considered the same series.
This is a sure sign that the Apocalypse is upon us and it is swinging a folding chair. Kind of makes you miss Geraldo and all the tv fun he used to provide.
Where else can ghetto people and white trash get a free DNA test, an all-expenses paid trip to Stamford, CT, and 15 minutes of ghetto/trailer park fame? Best deal going. Go Maury!
And WWE is just down the road, so if they can’t get on air on his show, WWE has a spot or two waiting for them to join that circus.
How true why this garbage on T.V. what trash watches this?????
The future of potential feel-good talk shows is dim as long as feel-better-than shows thrive; these bottom of humanity’s barrel shows are probably a welcome relief for some people who are at home (because they’re perhaps broke or unemployed) watching tv during the day — to see more wretched lives than one’s own. The shows seem more and more scripted to make horrible stereotypes of the lower classes in our society, but no doubt they have found a loyal audience. Check out the advertisers for these crapfests — debt consolidation, correspondence/training programs, class-action lawyers, etc.
Tells a lot about who’s watching. The worst offender to me, though, is the allegedly classier “Dr. Phil Show,” in which a guy with degrees yells at stupid people who dress and speak a little better than the others, even more offensive because it fakes a sense of legitimacy.
Just a sad day for TV to have these pieces of trash programs get renewed for 4 more years. Dr. Phil is a hack and Oprah’s lackey who is getting lucky with his ratings, since she’s no longer on the air in sydication but to renew garbage like these shows makes it point out that syndicated TV is the worst TV out there now.
