The hit film will be available on Netflix in Latin America including Brazil beginning August 18 as a result of a multiyear deal announced this morning between the video streaming company and the continent’s top distributor of independent films, Telefilms. The pact also provides Netflix with streaming rights to The Artist (begining June 15), Shame, The Chernobyl Diaries, To Rome With Love, Ender’s Game, and Beautiful Creatures. The Telefilms library also includes The King’s Speech, Midnight In Paris, Million Dollar Baby, The Fifth Element, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Netflix has offered its service in Latin America for nine months and says it now has more than 1M subscribers there. Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos lauded the Telefilms deal saying that it has “great taste and a great track record.”
