HOLLYWOOD (June 11, 2012) – Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom Inc., and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot today announced that they have optioned the spec script “WUNDERKIND” from writer Patrick Aison. J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk of Bad Robot will produce. H2F’s Chris Cowles and Chris Fenton will executive produce with Brian McCurley serving as associate producer.
WUNDERKIND is an elevated two-handed action/thriller set in the 1970′s following a young Nazi hunter with the CIA and an older Nazi hunter working for the Mossad. The two become reluctantly intertwined in their hunt and shocking twists result.
Aison most recently co-wrote with Brad Kean the sci-fi thriller spec “ECHO STATION” with the Spierig Brothers (“DAYBREAKERS”) directing. The Singapore/Aussie financed $20M film starts production this fall in Australia with Circle of Confusion and H2F producing. Casting is now underway. Aison, a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts masters program, sold his first spec “TAKEDOWNS” to GreenStreet Films with Kevin Rodney Sullivan attached to direct. He is represented by H2F and attorney Peter Sample.

Anyone who hasn’t had a chance to read this script should. It is honestly one of the best scripts I’ve read in the past decade. I’m sure many others will agree with me on this.
I have to agree. Tremendous piece of writing. So happy a studio decided to put something like this on their slate. A lucky filmmaker and a couple actors should get some serious recognition if this film gets made.

Let me see…they’ll either all be dead, or there’ll be no third act. We should at least all be grateful that Damon Lindelof isn’t involved with this one.
Oh, wait. Last week Lindelof said he was going back to TV “full time”, and then days later he’s doing Brad Pitt’s movie. Who knows what to believe any more.
Aison is the real deal and JJ is smart to get in business with him. We were in the running but lost out to BR. Next time…

This script is for real. One of the best I’ve read in the past year or so. Congrats to Brian and everyone else at H2F for getting this deal done. Cannot wait to see this on screen.

Yup, spec sale to Paramount with JJ Abrams/Bad Robot producing, but Bad Robot and Aison’s reps feel the real push comes from posting in the comment on Deadline.
