Producer-manager Larry Thompson, who has his hands full at the moment with the Lindsay Lohan-starring telefilm Liz & Dick, produced by his company, is also about to take out a male-skewing sketch comedy pilot. Thompson has teamed with producer Michael Wilson (Saturday Night Live, Politically Incorrect) on the project. Wilson financed and produced the completed pilot, said to be in the vein of such sketch-comedy shows as The Kids In The Hall, The State and Monty Python’s Flying Circus and described by Wilson as a show “by guys, for guys who like sketch comedy.” The ensemble cast features performers from The Groundlings and the Second City and includes Robert Belushi, Scott Beehner, Cooper Barnes, Sitara Falcon, T’Shaun Barrett, Bruce Wexler, Jo Newman, Mark Gagliardi and Marta McGonagle. The pilot will be shopped shortly by the Gersh Agency.

New ‘Man Of Steel’ Television Spot #6

please don’t compare your sketch comedy show to Monty Python unless you can absolutely back it up, Larry. I hope your pilot gets picked up just so I can watch and see if you’re right.
Almost all of these comments seem WAY too positive and gushy about how great this is…and for an unaired pilot…a LOT of people seem to have seen this already..these comments feel artificial, like they all came from the cast, or the casts friends and family…not authentic.
… This thing hasn’t sold yet? Every human who set eyes on the Pilot wrote in on this board to say it was amazing. As did 30 people who were at the live taping. That’s like… every single person at the live taping?
WOW!!!!!!!!!
I have NEVER in all my time on Deadline seen so many positive comments about anything, let alone an un-aired pilot still in free agency.
There are so many plants it’s like walking through the UCLA botanical garden.
Eh, seeing as there were multiple tapings, and likely many in the audience were industry and friends, it makes sense that people would be supportive and try to help out. Especially if it’s actually good.
I saw the taping of this pilot, and it ROCKED! Reminded me of when Saturday Night Live was great. The cast was amazing, and the guy who played Columbus was hysterical. Dam funny show. I wish them luck!
Columbus was played by Mark Gagliardi, and yes he’s Dam funny!
I saw one of the sketches on the net. A guy trying to get his girlfriend to reenact internet porn. Very funny!
Familiar with some of the cast, seen them perform live, some truly off-the-hook, crazy/fresh talent, cannot wait to see what they’ve put together because it’s gonna seriously rage.
Having attended the taping of the pilot, I confess I laughed my a#% off. I love sketch comedy, and this show is going to surprise a lot of people with its freshness, irreverence, and most of all…relevance. Watch it with your girl and see if you’re still together by the end of the show. “The Men’s Room”…gotta luv it!
Awesome to see this! I saw a short clip of the table read on youtube a while back. Looks really funny. I’ve seen a few of these guys at the Groundlings before. Awesome.
Heard all about this pilot. Sounds fresh and new and really current. And Robert Belushi is poised for a breakthrough. A perfect third compliment to John and Jim. This kid’s the real deal. The next generation of Belushi funny. For our generation.
I’m stoked about this! I’d really like to see it in action.
I went to the taping of Men’s Room – it was funny as sh*t – some highlights: Billy Bob vs his brother, Jersey Shore hitting on widows, and the F. Murray Abraham!! Rooting for these great actors and writers!
I’m right there with Tim. This whole thing looks golden and I’m particularly excited to see Rob Belushi’s work. I’ve been watching his sketch work for years – and he’s one of the funniest people I’ve seen. He’s due for much bigger things. And this might just be the thing that helps spring him. Very much looking forward to seeing this go forward.
Saw the pilot, absolutely hilarious. Raw talent, great timing, and strong chemistry among the cast. A bunch of extremely talented fresh comedy faces. Loved everything about it, especially the jersey shore scene. Give us more Mensroom!!!!
this is going to be hilarious… I’ve seen several of their sketches and these dudes rock monster balls hard (that means I find them super keen)
These guys NEED to be on TV…they are hilarious! So fresh and ready for primetime.
Male-skewing sketch show? What is this, 1980? This sounds supremely terrible. Good luck if you want an audience of one – Adam Carolla. He’s as washed up as your idea.
right, and that’s why Adam Carolla’s podcast is #1 most downloaded in the USA.
why is it ok to have Female skewing networks but wrong to have a male-skewing show?
Saw the taping of the show. OMG that s#it was funny as hell!!! Thornton brothers trucking was hilarious…”yousonofabitch”! Also the threesome at cheesecake factory sketch was great, Boenher’s facial expresions are one of a kind. The cartoons of the man and woman from the bathroom signage was clever and funny too. I’d totes watch this show, sell it good!
You know, even if what everyone may be saying about this show, though, not a show yet as I understand, even if its ‘Brilliant’,odds are,it will never be produced,or if it does,it will only have a season or two tops. Anything good sinks like a rock and all the crap floats to the surface and stays and stays. Don’t ask me why,but it does. There seem to be more good shows now than ever before, but I suppose that’s because there are 8,000 channels. So,maybe you have a shot. I wish you well. And tell them ‘Mike’ sent you.
I friend showed me one of the segments online and I laughed so hard I cried. The cast works great together and the writing is outstanding. I hope this gets picked up so we can all see more.
I went to a taping of this show. Hilarious! The sketches were original and funny. It seemed like the cast complemented each other very well, all bringing different types of comedy to the table. Oh, and the animated short segments were off the wall and hilarious! Good stuff. I’d love to see more of these guys.
This is AWESOME! That was HYSTERICAL. I’m still laughing. MORE Men’s Room.
The pilot is awesome. I hope this show gets the airtime it deserves. Great talent. And something new at last, instead of the same old same old.
Sketch comedy at its finest. Finally something worthy of its comparison to “The State”. Can’t wait to see more.
familiar with some of the cast and I’ve never wanted to see something get picked up more.
This show is funny, I hope it get’s picked up! Keep up the good work!
I really hope this gets picked up! It’s been awhile since I’ve seen anything like this on TV & these guys are awesome… I don’t know about the whole male skewing… my girls & I almost peed when we were watching this!
This is great. Men’s room rocks!
Fresh and actually funny new talent… Definitely count me in. i hope this get the air time it deserves! can’t wait!!!
