Richard Lynch, best known for playing villainous characters in a career that spanned more than 40 years, has died. He was 76. Lynch’s rep Mike Baronas says the actor’s body was found today at his Palm Springs home by a friend and no investigation was planned into the cause of death. With his platinum hair and scarred face, Lynch was cast in dozens of sci-fi and horror films, including the Halloween franchise. Among his roles was serial killer Michael Myers’ high school principal in Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake in 2007. His most recent role was in Zombie’s upcoming movie, The Lords of Salem. His other films include Bad Dreams, The Sword and the Sorcerer, Scarecrow, The Ninth Configuration, and Little Nikita. TV series include Battlestar Galactica, The A-Team, Six Feet Under and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Lynch had said he permanently scarred his face in 1967 when he took LSD and set himself on fire.

One disturbing aspect of obits like this is finding out how old someone was when they passed. His many roles fixes him at a certain age in the mind and discovering the reality is always jarring. I liked his work. R.I.P.
he was the villain in forbidden dance lambada… love that movie… he’s dancing the lambada for jesus now
i am stunned and saddend to here that Richard Lynch passed away he was a great actor.
It’s…time…
So fitting. I tip my hat to you, sir.
Sad news indeed. I loved him in the Charles Band productions..Trancers 2, Puppet Master 3. RIP.
Great and creepy in The Seven Ups
If you had a villain role in the 70s he and Anthony Zerbe were the go to guys.
Agree. I think he may have also done a “Kolchak” back the 70s. I think recently read somewhere that he was doing an autograph show. And I was hoping to meet him at one of those shows. Zerbe another good one.
I will always love him for his performance in “Invasion U.S.A.” as Rostov. He played a great villain to Chuck Norris’ good guy. “You tell Rostov it’s time to die.”
RIP, Mr. Lynch.
Yep that was such a good movie and he played the role so well. We will all indeed miss him. RIP Richard Lynch.
The Gun on Ice Planet Zero the best episode of Battlestar Galactica ever!
It was definitely up there…and he was probably the only GOOD to come out of “Galactica 1980″ as Xavier, but we don’t like to mention that series now do we
What a classic old mug. You’d never see a cat like that get cast in ANYTHING today, even as a bad guy. RIP.
And Incremental is right, Lynch and Zerbe were the go-to villains in the 70s.
Check out seventies filn THE PREMONITION.
Anthony Zerbe … what a astonishing actor – RIP Mr. Lynch!
Richard Lynch was indeed a fine actor, I know he was passionate about Swedish playwright August Strindberg, I would have loved to have seen Lynch in a Strindberg play
Great actor and a perfect villian. Even though he was cast as a villian in a lot of prductions he was a good actor as well when he played a sympathetic character.
Good Journeys Richard
He was a great actor and excellent acting teacher. He was also a kind and courteous gentleman. Richard Lynch will be missed.
Richard was one of the 50 best male actors of the post war generation. In spite of being type cast, Richard could play any role in the theatre or film. He was a classically trained actor as good as Brando, if the right kind of people ran the film industry Richard would have been given the opportunity to play in big budget films in leading roles, then we could have seen what he could really do! he was stellar. I will miss Richard he was a rare talent and deserved much more, we have lost a great talent and a wonderfull human being!
Richard lynch was my favorite actor.he was very believable in every roll he played.
