Just like CBS’ failed 2003 attempt to block ABC’s short-lived Survivor-esque I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, CBS’ unsuccessful legal challenge to ABC’s Big Brother-like The Glass House may have been much ado about nothing. Despite extra publicity from the legal tussle, the new ABC reality series opened modestly last night with a 1.6/4 among adults 18-49 at 10 PM, following The Bachelorette (2.3/7, flat with last week). Compared with last summer’s debut of Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition in the same time period, Glass House was down 33%, and it may be adjusted further down in the finals as its fast nationals include a Bachelorette overrun.
NBC’s America’s Got Talent (2.8/9) was once again the top program of the night in 18-49 but was down 15% from two weeks ago for a season low. American Ninja Warrior (2.0/5) was down 9%. NBC (2.3/7, 7.6 million viewers) won the night in viewers. Fox (2.4/7, 5.6 million) edged NBC for a nightly win in 18-49 with Gordan Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen (2.5/8) and MasterChef (2.3/6) both down from last Monday by 11% and 15%, respectively. CBS aired reruns.
Over at HBO, the second episode of True Blood on Sunday drew 4.42 million total viewers, down 15% from the season premiere. the Season 1 finale of Girls (1 million) was up 15% to log its second most watched telecast as it moved from its regular 10:30 PM slot to 10 PM where it immediately followed the highly-rated True Blood.

With each passing week AGT grows more tiresome. Every aspect of the show has gone downhill.
As a BB viewer, I was extremely dissapponted and BORED TO DEATH. I wont be watching next week. Even one contestant quit. Producing & editing were HORRENDOUS. CBS has nothing to worry about
And yet AGT is still the top show of the night.
Glass House was unbelievably boring. There are zero interesting characters, and everyone plays it so safe. Nothing happened. The live online broadcast after on ABC.com proved to be even more tiresome. Nothing to see, or look forward to with this show. There were live comments on the site as well and they were all overwhelmingly negative. Look forward to raitings bottoming out next week. I wasted more time than I will ever admit on this show after just one episode, and I will not make the mistake again. You screwed up, ABC.
Why would anyone watch Glass House when we have Big Brother in less than a month?
If ABC stole CBS top talent for Glass House? Then ABC got screwed and CBS should wonder how did BB make it ( I think Big Brother has some hellish good film and dialog editors (or what ever they call them). Glass House was a classic train wreck with Two networks setting in the middle of the track jerking each other off. What a waste of non talented wannabes. Even my eyeballs hurt.
If ABC is going to continue to do reality programs, they really need to stop duplicating other networks shows that are past their prime. Besides, all of their copycat shows are always ten times worse than the originals. ABC has a nasty habit of sucking out the best elements of the hit originals, throwing that part on the floor, stomping all over it, and running with the remaining crap. For example, Duets, which is one part Dancing With the Stars and one part American Idol. On DWTS we can see the judges scores and on AI we get at least three weeks of the audition process to judge the talent for ourselves. On Duets, the interesting parts, the fun elements, and the things that we look forward to seeing such as the judges scores, the audition process, and the weekly voting are totally thrown away. ABC is just clueless.
Can’t wait for big brother. Julie where are you?
Told ya this Glass House show was going to fail and it did…won’t be surprised if it gets pulled after next week’s or the third week’s episode. Has disaster written all over it and CBS could have helped ABC save fate but no, ABC wants to mire themselves with reality drivel and they’re doing just that. I think Regis might need to return to save the network once again like he did roughly 10 years ago.
glass house was pretty good.big brother has been boring for the past 5 or so years.they never really switch it up same comps every season and so forth.i havent watched bb for a while now.only reason they do such good numbers is due to habit.
