The Miami Heat beat the Oklahoma City Thunder last night and the NBA Finals scored pretty nicely as well. Game 4 (6.0/17) was up 9% from last year’s Game 4 battle between the Heat and the Dallas Mavericks. In fast nationals, Tuesday’s game drew 13.97 million viewers and garnered an overnight rating of 12.4, the highest-rated Game 4 since the 14.5 of 2004′s LA Lakers-Detroit Pistons court battle. The series so far is averaging an 11.6 overnight rating, ABC’s highest since 2004 and the second highest since the network began broadcasting the NBA Finals.
The news was not so upbeat at NBC: After double America’s Got Talent repeats at 8 PM (1.5/5) and 9 PM (1.8/5), Tuesday’s new episode of Love In The Wild (1.3/4) was down 13%. That marks the lowest rating for the Jenny McCarthy-hosted reality show since the 1.6/4 of its season premiere June 5. Last night’s episode drew 4.1 million viewers.
ABC’s NBA Finals lead-ins Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night (2.5/9) at 8 PM was the same as last year’s fast national, while the 8:30 PM NBA Countdown (2.8/9) was down 3%. Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen (2.2/7) was flat with last week. MasterChef (2.0/6) was down 5%. CBS aired repeats with NCIS (1.3/4), NCIS: LA (1.2/3) and 48 Hours Mystery (1.1/3)
ABC won the night among adults 18-49 and in viewers (11.623 million). Overall television viewership was down 4% from last week’s 8-10 PM time frame.

I guess its clear the MLB and NHL are dying
“love in the wild” is boob tube excrement. that’s all i have to say. no, wait — i’ve got more. and the people, the so-called creative minds behind such excrement, are brain-addled doofuses, too. how can we devolve so much as a society that such fare is what passes for entertainment today? inexcusable. end of rant.
@Johnson- I remember when MLB was huge all year long and the startup of baseball spring training was highly anticipated. The majority of todays teens just aren’t into it like we were and baseball is treated as an afterthought. The playoffs hardly get recognition and the World Series is really the last thing that gets big viewing numbers anymore. But even those are second rate to what they use to be. And the NHL is basically nonexistent in the minds of most Americans. Nobody(not literally but basically nobdy), watched the Stanley Cup Finals in America.
That Jenny McCarthy show has to be another one of those terrible and most vile reality shows airing on TV today. When is NBC seriously going to wake up, along with the rest of the networks, and understand that these type of crapfests will only fill up slots and garner you ratings for so long. How McCarthy still can hold onto a job is beyond my comprehension and we all know it’s not because of her smarts, since she doesn’t have any to begin with.
