It was a good night for the LA Kings – they won the Stanley Cup for the very first time. But for NBC, the Stanley Cup Game 6 (1.6/5) battle between the Kings and the New Jersey Devils at LA’s Staples Center was not so great. In Fast Nationals, which will probably be adjusted later, the 8 – 11 PM the live hockey game was down 20% from last year’s June 13 Game 6 between the Boston Bruins and the Vancouver Canucks in Boston. That makes this year’s Kings’ victory the lowest-rated game ender for the Stanley Cup since the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Edmonton Oilers in 2006.
Over on Fox, Gordon Ramsey had a winning night. Hell’s Kitchen (2.7.9) and MasterChef (2.6/7) were both up 13% over last week’s premiere. ABC’s 8 – 10 PM The Bachelorette (2.3/7) was up 5% from last week. The reality dating series was followed by a repeat of Castle (1.1/3)
With 6.58 million viewers, ABC won the night overall, but Fox took the night among adults 18-49. The network also had its highest rated Monday summer night since September 1, 2008.
CBS had a night of repeats with How I Met Your Mother (1.3/4), 2 Broke Girls (1.5/4), Two & A Half Men (1.5/4), Mike & Molly (1.4/4) and Hawaii Five-O (1.2/3)

Go Kings!
What a night!
a real shame that Americans aren’t big on hockey.
Hour-by-hour numbers should be interesting. I’m sure the ratings were affected by the fact that the game was a blowout.
“…lowest-rated game ender for the Stanley Cup since the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Edmonton Oilers in 2006.”
since the who beat who?
Considering I couldn’t watch the finals without paying extra for a package upgrade, no kidding the numbers were low. Show me another sport where they don’t give the finals away for free.
I agree…how stupid are the people in the NHL, especially that little troll that is their commissioner in Butthead? Airing the Finals on two separate networks? I mean, who else in sports does something like that? Then they wonder why their ratings were bad.
Don’t blame the low ratings on Hockey! It was NBC’s fault for neither consistently airing nor publicizing the Stanley Cup games on their local affiliates.
I don’t “blame” anyone. It’s just that most Americans do NOT like watching hockey on tv. That’s just the way it is. I am an exception to that general rule.
Hockey will always be at best the 5th most popular sport in this country, regardless of what network or time it is on..ratings reflect that
WOW, NBC pushed AGT and 13mil viewers for THIS!!!
NBC is just happy the series is over and done with, but congrats to the Kings on winning the Cup…well deserved and glad they booed Bettman out of the building as usual.
Congrats to the Kings, hardest trophy to win in sports, but two hot goalies and no trash talk made for a non explosive series. The limos standing by in an earlier game was noteworthy though.
Bar owners and beer companies were happy, if you wanted to see the game you were out at a bar with friends. Good times.
I’m not a big fan on hockey so I won’t know much on that subject. I do love to watch other great shows on my PrimeTime Anytime. I can watch Hell’s Kitchen, Master Chef and Bachelorette. I never get enough of the drama and chaos chef Ramsey creates. I don’t have to pick and choose any of my shows since I upgraded to the Hopper which was a great suggestion from my coworker at Dish. This records all my primetime shows for later playback so I never miss anything. Now I can watch my primetime shows commercial free when I enable the Auto Hop feature in my Hopper. This only works on primetime recordings the day after they air. You will need to select yes with each new show, and I won’t have to manually fast forward commercials. I don’t have to worry about replacing my batteries all the time, now that this feature is available.
