The end of the first season of Kiefer Sutherland’s Touch was not a high five for Fox. Without the benefit of an American Idol lead-in, the network aired back-to-back episodes of Touch last night, garnering a 1.3/5 at 8 PM and the 9 PM finale a 1.3/4. That was down four tenths from the last original episode of Touch on May 17. Next season, Touch is moving to Fridays. Over on ABC at 8 PM, a two-hour Duets (1.5/5) missed the high notes in its second week, down 12% from the singing show’s premiere episode. Following at 10 PM, Rookie Blue (1.4/4) was flat with last week’s Season 3 premiere. The premiere of the CW’s reality series Breaking Pointe earned a 0.3/1 at 8 PM. The night of repeats on NBC and CBS saw CBS win overall among adults 18-49 and total viewers (7.4 million).
NBC had repeats of The Office at 8 PM and 8:30 PM, both of which earned 0.8/3. America’s Got Talent repeats followed at 9 PM (1.1/3) and 10 PM (1.5/5). CBS featured repeats of Rules Of Engagement (1.8/6), Person Of Interest (1.4/4) and The Mentalist (1.3/4) at 10 PM. The 8 PM Big Bang Theory (2.3/8) rerun proved the night’s most-watched show, bringing in 8.7 million viewers.

Wow a 1.3 and it’s coming back. American Ninja Warrior on NBC doubled those ratings two weeks ago and probably cost one tenth as much. Kiefer needs a better vehicle ASAP.
He came back too quickly, and with the wrong show.
Hate to agree with Brett — but do 100%. If this was anyone else besides Kiefer at Fox I think it’d be gone already. Such goodwill is hardly carried over for anyone anymore -big talent included – Fox won’t be patient too much longer with it. But other shows didn’t do go forward, a renewal, for Kiefer? Sure. Now if it doesn’t perform watch for it to get yanked fast and burned off next summer. It’s too bad but not everything can be lighting in a bottle w/ good writing.
If Person Of Interest continue rerun so well will get NCIS syndication deal! If not set new record deal. 100% will beat H5O, TM and NCIS LA deals. USA VS TNT will be the fight for syndication with no one other strong hit drama out there this and past season.
Why CBS dont start TBBT-TAHM-POI reruns already? Must create habits in people.
I can’t see Touch surviving a Friday time-slot. It’s competing against NBC’s comedy block of Whitney/Community, ABC’s Last Man Standing/Malibu Country block & CSI: NY.
“Touch” is a good program, although it really could do without the overarching conspiracy theory (ala Fringe) that seemed to come out of nowhere in the last half of the season. I think last night’s ratings also suffered from the pre-emption the week before. I didn’t realize that there was still one more episode in the season and almost missed it.
Duets is unwatchable.
All the singing, dancing, etc. talent contests have now become a blurr, copycats, un-original thinking. Next we’ll have those smart (smerk) decision-makers approve airing singers over 85 yrs old only – east against west against south, north, central; musical chair songs contest, who can gain weight the fastest – on veggies only, shuffle board challenge, farting contest – boys vs. girls, who can sweat the most measured by…,etc. Can anyone remember runner-ups of the last few years’ shows? NOT. Hair today, gone tomorrow. Oops. Should read HERE today, gone tomorrow – shows. Hey… I better watch what I write, the producers just might think seriously there’s a show in this/these comments. Yup, beware, next up, “Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow”, hosted by…
Really. Let’s see something worth viewing and enjoying for a change.
I fell out of TOUCH exactly ten minutes into the second episode. I thought the pilot was great – as a stand alone movie. It just doesnt work as a weekly show, and will fail spectacularly this fall.
Duets is just terrible and the new CW reality shows are seriously going to tank bigtime, and if the CW has a brain in their heads, they get out of that genre while there’s still time to do so.
Touch is on life support. A Friday move will kill it. BRETT above was right. Too soon, wrong vehicle for Kiefer. Add that the premise is beyond convoluted, and there you have it.
Kiefer should have held out for that 24 movie directed by Tony Scott.
Touch was not good initially BUT has improved dramatically! And the season finale was spectacular! Would love to see Kiefer succeed again with Touch but also with the 24 movie!!!
Touch had some Wow moments in it for me, we all have had that
“this is to much to be coincidence feeling”
The scene and story line where the father is looking for his lost cell phone that has pics of his daughter and all he has to do is turn around and see her on the Jumbotron, was great!
Negative- the conspiracy theory and Kiefer on the lamb was only downer for me. Hope they have some twists and turns that are unexpected…. I think the show is good entertainment… I didnt realize it was only one season, I saw it on Netflix and was disappointed there wasn’t more seasons! So sue me! Glad to hear there will be season 2!
