It was another mostly down summer night for the English-language broadcast networks, allowing Spanish-language Univision to take charge, edging ABC (1.3/4 in 18-49) and CBS (1.3/4) for the top spot Thursday among adults 18-49 with a 1.4/4. CBS was No. 1 in total viewers (6.5 million) with all repeats.
ABC’s Wipeout (1.9/6) is the latest returning summer series to open lower than last year. The reality series was down 21% from its June 2011 premiere (down 30% from its winter opener). Its lead-in, rookie Duets (1.0/3), continues to falter, down 17% from last week to a series low. At 10 PM, just-renewed Canadian drama Rookie Blue (1.1/3) was down 15% from three weeks ago to a season low. Fox’s new unscripted series Take Me Out (1.0/3) and The Choice (1.2/4) also slid, down 17% and 20%, respectively, from last week. Even the U.S. Olympic Trials on NBC (1.7/6) were down after keeping steady and even slightly growing over the previous nights as Michael Phelps took a break from the pool. Following the trials, a new episode of Canadian import Saving Hope (0.7/2) was the lowest-rated program on the Big 4 networks last night. Still, its rating was up a whopping 40% from last week’s low. Rock Center With Brian Williams (0.8/2) was flat.

I watched Wipeout last night. It’s an enjoyable hour but the new sidekick is awful. Vanessa seemed so force and she ends up not being funny at all. Just annoying. Wish we had Jill Wagner back.
NBC continues to be a huge mess as they’re airing shows nobody wants to watch. The CW tanks yet again and Wipeout is a fun show but the co-host is brutal and maybe time to replace her and just go with the current hosts from this point forward. Duets is a trainwreck and those FOX dating shows are even worse.
Vanessa is awfull and Iagree plain annoying. Wish they get rid of her
