Following his starring role on the TNT dramedy Men Of A Certain Age, which he also co-created, Ray Romano is staying in dramedy mode with an arc on the upcoming season of NBC’s Parenthood. He will play a photographer and former photojournalist who befriends Sarah (Lauren Graham) and complicates her relationship with Mark (Jason Ritter); his character will be introduced in the season premiere. Following the end of Men Of A Certain Age, Romano reunited with his Everybody Loves Raymond co-star Patricia Heaton in a two-episode guest stint on her ABC comedy series The Middle last fall.

Please don’t let this become a long-term run, I just don’t think he’s going to work well with the dynamic of that cast… especially Lauren Graham…

Hard to imagine Ray and Lauren Graham working together on screen. She cries and whines in every single episode of Parenthood. Hopefully his entrance might stifle that a bit, as she is the most obnoxious character on the show.
Romano is a PERFECT fit. If you’ve seen his work on “Men” you’d know what a good, relatable actor he is. These are the exact same traits Lauren Graham possesses.
Agreed. Men of a Certain Age was an underappreciated show by TNT and Romano was excellent in it. I hope he is not typecast for the rest of his career because of Everybody Loves Raymond because he sure has a whole lot more to offer than that dreck
Also agreed! I only liked “Raymond” but I LOVED “Men.” Ray will be great in this, it’s perfect.

Ray Romano as a potential love interest for Lauren Graham’s char? Sounds like a horrible idea and something I don’t want to see. Give Sarah something else to do than to be torn between two men and hearing her biological clock tick. She already has two kids, that’s the green limit. I hope Romano’s char will inspire her in regards to a career.
I do miss MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE. Loved that show.
He was excellent in the great Men of a Certain Age, but I just don’t see Ray Romano in this setting. He’s a photographer? He’s romancing Lauren Graham? She might choose him instead of Jason Ritter? Ray Romano?
Again, he was great in Men, but I just don’t see him on this show, it seems weird already.
I just don’t think they will look right together. He’s a great actor and Lauren is one of the main reasons I watch the show but he just doesn’t look like her type at all. I don’t know if I like this match up…
Ray showed a whole other side on Men of A Certain Age. He is capable of anything! I look forward to seeing what they do with him on Parenthood! I just love that show. Let’s give it a chance
