Veteran Imagine TV executive Robin Gurney, who recently left the company after a seven-year tenure, is reuniting with her former Imagine TV boss David Nevins at Showtime. Gurney is joining the pay cable network as SVP Original Programming, replacing veteran Pearlena Igbokwe, who is leaving the network at the end of her contract this month. She will develop and oversee original series, reporting to EVP Original Programming Gary Levine. “Robin and I had a great, creative working relationship for five years at Imagine,” Showtime’s entertainment president David Nevins said. “I am so thrilled to finally have an opportunity to work together here at Showtime.”
At Imagine TV, Gurney most recently served as Senior EVP Development and Production. During her seven-year tenure at the company, she worked on the development and day-to-day creative supervision of such series as Friday Night Lights, Shark, Lie To Me, Friends With Benefits, and ABC’s new fall comedy How To Live With Your Parents For The Rest Of Your Life. Before Imagine, Gurney served as SVP Development at Greg Berlanti and Mickey Liddell’s Warner Bros TV-based Berlanti-Liddell, where she oversaw development on such series as Jack & Bobby, and as SVP Development for Francis Ford Coppola’s Sony-based production company American Zoetrope based at Sony, where she developed series 4400 and Platinum. Gurney headed drama development at UPN in 2000, and also worked in production for Paramount Network TV and CBS.

In baseball parlance, yiu could see that big fat hanging curve a country mile away… No surprise unless of course Gary Levine was out of the loop and then the surprise will be on him.
