Without realizing it until days later, TMZ managed to obtain an extremely rare commodity over the weekend — video of the notoriously publicity-averse director Terrence Malick. TMZ cameras cornered Benicio Del Toro to ask the actor what he thought about, for example, whether Cuba should be a state. What they didn’t know was that the man walking with Del Toro was Malick, who in the video was clearly avoiding the camera.

Funny stuff!
What dumb@sses at TMZ. They can tell all the Kardashians apart but they don’t recognize Malick.
Hey K & L – take a lesson from a real talent. When you have it you don’t need twitter and all Tthe bullshit. Just plain old legit talent. That is Malick.
No surprise. They can barely tie their own shoelaces.
Terrence Malick: [intercepted radio message] I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That’s my dream; that’s my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight razor… and surviving.
Say what you want about how dumb TMZ are (all deserved, Im sure), I’m a big big big Malick fan and wouldn’t have recognized him off the bat in that footage. He looks much older, different than the last confirmed sighting (I believe it was a still around The Red Line time).
So what, he is not that great a director except to the art crowds who make up less than 1% of movie going audiances.
Thank god we do not judge whether a directing auteur is “great” based solely on their draw at the box office. Quality of talent should not be left up to the lowest common denominator to decide.
Great comment, I was going to say something similar but with a few insults thrown in
Malick’s the best
