Travis Fimmel (The Beast, Baytown Outlaws) and Jessalyn Gilsig (Glee, Heroes, CSI: NY) are among the new cast members announced today for History’s upcoming scripted series Vikings. Fimmel will play the role of Viking leader Ragnar; Gilsig has been tapped for the role of Siggy, the wife of Earl Haraldson played by the previously announced Gabriel Byrne. Also announced today: Gustaf Skarsgard (The Way Back) as Floki, Clive Standen (Camelot, Robin Hood) as Rollo, and Katheryn Winnick (Stand Up Guys) as Lagertha. The previously announced George Blagden will play the role of Athelstan, an Anglo-Saxon monk captured by Ragnar on his first raid on England. Vikings follows the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok, his band of Viking brothers and his family as he rises to become King of the Viking tribes. Johan Renck and Ken Girotti are slated to direct multiple episodes of the series, which premieres next year.

Katheryn Winnick is a fantastic actress! Really looking forward to this series.
Winnick is terrible! but she’s really hot and she’s believable in action scenes (which her role will apparently require). I think she was mainly cast because she’s Canadian and this is a Canadian-Irish coproduction.
Guess you never saw her in the House episode, “One Day, One Room”.
Really glad to see Jessalyn Gilsig back in a tv series. Hopefully they utilize her better then they had on Glee
If it’s half as good as Hatfields & McCoys then History has a big winner here. Cant wait to see it!
Clive Standen as awesome as Gawain in Camelot cant wait to see him kill some saxons in this!!!
Katheryn Winnick is as talented as she is beautiful… which is saying a LOT. Really psyched to see her featured in this series.
