EXCLUSIVE: It looks like procedural drama Unforgettable will indeed not go forgotten. I’ve learned that CBS, which cancelled the series starring Poppy Montgomery and Dylan Walsh in May after one season, is in discussions to bring it back with a 13-episode order targeted for next summer. The network declined comment.
Following the cancellation by CBS, Sony Pictures TV, which co-produces Unforgettable with CBS TV Studios, began actively shopping the series to other networks, including TNT and Lifetime. Unforgettable centers on Carrie Wells (Montgomery), a New York detective with the ability to visually remember everything, who works for a team led by her ex-partner and boyfriend, Lt. Al Burns (Walsh). Unforgettable would mark the highest-profile summer original scripted series to air on CBS in a long time. The network recently ran another crime procedural, Canadian import Flashpoint, in the off-season.
The axing of Unforgettable was surprising and one of the closest calls this upfront season. When asked at the day of CBS’ upfront presentation what went wrong for the show to warrant the cancellation after a relatively solid first-season run, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler said the question is not “what went wrong with Unforgettable but what went right with the new pilots.” In its first season, Unforgettable averaged 12.1 million viewers and a 2.5/7 among adults 18-49 and was the most-watched series on any network to get the hook.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

This sounds to me like a decision made minding the CBS TD syndication pipeline than anything else.
CBS TD lets CBS proper make money from selling the same product twice. Once to the network, then to the affils for stuff to fill weekend programming slots they can’t (or don’t want to) sell to the infomercial brokers.
No product in pipeline = no $$$ for CBS TD. That’s why they’re giving Unforgettable a summer time slot. Simple.
I don’t care if they run it at four in the morning just as long as they keep it in production. Thanks, CBS.
Kplan,
You stated that it was stupid that Carrie remembered things that she had not ever seen with her own eyes. I don’t ever remember that happening. I saw many times that when she looked back on a scene from her life she would visually slow down and recall things she had once seen but had looked past quickly before. She had always seen these things but they only came back to her when she focused.
Glad the show might be coming back. This show ran opposite of
Body of Proof and still out ranked it in the numbers. Both shows are good!
The writing could improve but it was still a good show.

BRING BACK HARRY’S LAW…..it was one of the only shows on TV worth watching!!! It made you think and see things from different angles….something lacking in most shows on TV….How can we get rid of Kathy Bates and keep the Bristol Palin…what is wrong with this picture?
As a UK fan of this series I am happy to see that CBS saw the light and are hopefully about to reverse the worst decision of last season’s axings.
It was way more than just another procedural and improved as it progressed and also got better when the cast added Kate (or was it Allie?) (nice to see her back on screen either way).
Those pilots must have been really good….though it will be no shock to see some crash and burn and the return of Unforgettable fast tracked.
Absolutely loved the show, was gutted when it was axed.
I’m guessing all the haters didn’t like it because it wasn’t a talent, or “reality show”, which in my opinion are a complete waste of money, which produce “stars” that are beyond annoying, and a legend in their own lunchbreak.
In reality though, this show was more realistic than some people may realise, especially if they just watched it without knowing anything other than it was just a TV show.
Poppy’s character suffered from a genuine medical condition called Hyperthymesia, suffers of which can remember almost every detail of every day of their lives, so the storyline was in no way far fetched or impossible.
Seriously hope it returns.
They should let Applebaum go to another network…why they lock up shows or cancel ones dong well is baffling to me!
S
Wow… I really liked this show. Some of you are brutal.
Good I like
The show!!!
Such good news! I thought the show was very good. Was pissed when CBS cancelled it. Also pissed about CSI Miami. Kinda knew something was up when they moved it to Sunday where good shows go to die but they could have at least had a better finally.
I personally loved the show and hope to see it return soon will continue to watch for the time and channel that season 2 will premier. I Love Poppy Montgomery and Walsh they’re great.
