Warner Bros. Pictures has announced a domestic release date of October 26 for Cloud Atlas. The film is directed by Andy and Lana Wachowski and Tom Tykwer and stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, and Hugh Grant. It’s based on David Mitchell’s book that consists of six interconnected stories. The studio also announced it has acquired rights for the film in the major markets of the UK, France, Spain, Australia, and Japan, with plans to release it in those territories in early 2013.
Other cast members include Jim Broadbent (Iris), Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Be, Ben Whishaw, James, D’Arcy, Zhou Xun and Keith David. Each member of the ensemble appears in multiple roles as the stories move through time.

Fantastic film, but marketing it is gonna be tough.
Yes! Tykwer is my favourite working director and this is my most anticipated movie of the year.
Now just show us a trailer already. It’s only four months to release!
I’m THERE.
…but is there a running time yet?
Anyone who has read the novel, aside from assuming that no adaptation could possibly do it justice, would probably prefer it as a mini-series for television. Definitely an interesting experiment I will be seeing, regardless…
This script made no sense.
I’ve seen a rough assemblage and I liked it a lot. The WB marketing people have got their work cut out for them. It’s a very, very unconventional film.
The fact that the international rights to this steaming pile were being desperately hawked round up until a few weeks ago (at ever decreasing rates) – with the movie looong in the can, tells you everything you need to know.
One of the great trainwrecks of modern times..
‘The Matrix’ script didn’t make sense either…buckle up.
