Martin Weiss is the Hollywood talent manager whose company repped child actors that had landed roles on such series as Nickelodeon’s iCarly and Disney’s Good Luck Charlie as well as on network shows and movies. Today in Van Nuys, CA he pleaded no contest during a pretrail hearing to two charges of oral copulation with a child under the age of 14. He was sentenced to a year in jail and five years probation; the sentence was suspended for time served, and he will be released today. Weiss must register as a sex offender and enter a treatment program. and he is not permitted to be in the presence of anyone under 18 without another adult present. Weiss was arrested last November after the victim and former client told police in an affidavit he was sexually assaulted by Weiss 30-40 times over a three-year period when the boy was 11 or 12 years old. Police searched his apartment at the time of Weiss’ arrest and set bail at triple the normal amount because they suspected there could be more victims. Weiss dissolved his company soon after.

Only one year in jail for repeatedly molesting an 10 year-old? This is appalling. I hope the children he has harmed are getting the help they need.
One year in jail??? And with time off???? Disgusting. There is a lot of perversity in this case, particularly the sentencing. Would love to know who the presiding judge was and his/her reasons behind such a joke of a sentence. I wonder how the families feel. Yet another reason why parents should keep their kids out of show business.

I’m the father of two kids. If this happened to one of them, and this guy got a year – and was free for “time served” – I might have to take the law into my own hands.

Who paid the judge? ONE YEAR for 30 to 40 counts of child RAPE? That is 9 days per rape!!
That is just crazy. Especially for a ‘manager’ in a position of power and influence of kids that are eager. I had the displeasure of meeting this animal before, and he is a creeper for sure.
This town should be supporting BizParentz and their efforts with the legislature to have industry companies (and casting, people on set) perform background checks for offenders.

Only 1 year in jail for harming a child like that is way beyond wrong! Something is seriously and sadly messed up in our judicial system and the entertainment industry, too. I hope the young man/victim gets all the counseling and emotional help he needs to recover from this and I’ll be praying for him.
That is way less than a year. Too bad he didn’t get what he deserved in prison. Child molesters are the most hated in the “joint” and the inmates do take matters into their own hands…
That is what he was Accused of, not what he was convicted of. There were all kinds of holes in the case and he was not guilty of what he was accused of. That is why he only got a year. As a former client I can tell you he was a very good manager and never hurt my child in any way.
So tell me this: If he wasn’t guilty, then why the hell did he actually plead guilty?
This verdict stinks. The guy was part of the Hollywood industry and must have ‘friends’ who used their influence.
May the Lord forgive me, but I hope he made lots of ‘other friends’ while he was in jail.
If you were looking at 34 years, you might accept the plea bargain and go no contest. BTW, he did not claim he was guilty. Was he perhaps set up by someone?

No, he was not set up by anyone. He is a pedophile, which is a psychiatric disorder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedophile). As such, Mr. Weiss believes that what he did was consentual sex with the 11 year old. He does not believe he committed a crime which is one reason he would not plead guilty. Pleading “No Contest” got him the same sentence, he just doesn’t admit guilt. In his eyes, he loves the little boys, and wants to educate them, care for them. It sounds as if he was sentenced to a sex offender treatment program. They aren’t very successful but it must have been a recommendation within the psych evals and probation reports.

Because our justice system sucks. He didn’t plead guilty he pleaded no contest to two counts of a lewd act which is the same charge you get if you are caught with your girlfriend making out in public. I am a very protective parent and keep my kids very safe with all adults. I’m just saying before you assume he is guilty you should have the facts. If he didn’t plead no contest he would have sat in jail until they had a jury trial which could have taken a year and then he would be at the mercy of the jury which would be baised because of the media. Just like you. I worked with him for several years. He was a good person. Many of his clients including a lot of teenage boys who spent a lot of time with him signed up to be charector witnesses for him. No other kids came forward even though he represented kids for 20 years. It’s not far fetched to think that someone was trying to hurt Marty with false accusations that fell apart in court which is what happened. He pleaded no contest so he could get out of jail. His life has been ruined. Get the facts before you attack him. Just saying

As for his former clients – sadly, many will choose to believe. Marty had been a suspect individual in this industry long before most of the families who are going to stand by him were around. He always found trusting people. I’ve read the complaint. And there is still more to be told about this situation.
I know my family boundary would be not to work with someone who had pled no contest to oral copulation with a minor.

Parent: You are delusional and you are believing a convicted felon. Yes, he was convicted–not just accused–of two FELONIES. He was not just convicted of a lewd act…that is a lie. It was “oral XXXX with a minor under age 14″, sec. 288a. If you believe that is just like getting caught with a girlfriend, you are NOT a protective parent. You are just plain stupid.
Marty Weiss was also sentenced to be in a sex offender treatment program. HE IS A CONVICTED CHILD MOLESTER. Please, for the sake of your child, come to grips with the facts. People like you are the reason victims don’t come forward until they are adults. The children just can’t disappoint their parents by admitting what actually was happening. Please don’t set up that environment for your child.
Have you read the complaint and the affidavits in this case? I have. The crimes he committed were too graphic to write on this board, and they were in too much detail to be doubted. Marty Weiss hasn’t shared them with you, has he? He pled “no contest” to avoid a trial because he didn’t want those details to come out.
He also didn’t want the other “character witnesses” to talk about
his decades of abuse, associations with other convicted child molesters, and questionable behavior. Marty has been known for decades, back to when he was “accompanying” Corey Haim (yep, add 2 + 2). Since then allegations have been frequent, but over and over the families were too afraid to ruin their careers by coming forward.
If you are thinking of helping Marty go back in to business, think again. No one in this town will hire his clients ever again.
To believe that nobody would ever hire his clients again is downright stupid! He gave up representing actors when he dissolved his business. Stop trying to attach a stigma to his previous clients! I hope none of his former clients are reading your post!
I think if he was to go back into business as a manager Anonymous is completely right. What studios are going to what that liability. Unfortunately, his plea bargain lets him still have free range with kids again. He can work anywhere with any adult present and tons of kids, SCARY. This is not a man that is going to stop what he has done. I don’t know how this judge and prosecutor can sleep at night.
I am the parent of a former client. There is sure a lot of misinformation out there. No I haven’t read the afidavits because they aren’t public information. I do no there was enough.doubt to let Marty go after 6 months. He won’t be coming back to the entertainment industry so I wouldn’t worry about that. No children will be represented by him. I agree there needs to be more protection in Hollywood. I have never left my child alone with anyone. But we were very close to Marty as were many of his clients. Like a family really. I have talked to most of theme. All I have ever said is you do not know the whole story. This case is not ad black and white as everyone would like it to be. I won’t bother trying to educate you anymore, but the complaint from the person who accused him did have holes in it. Fact. That is why they let him know. Another fact. He wasn’t 11 when he met Marty, he was a teenager. I am not defending. I don’t have to. Marty will no doubt keep as far away from all of you as possible so you don’t have to worry about that. But he wasn’t the child molester you paint him to be. Just because someone is gay or has a personality you assume he is a child molester. I wish the facts of the case were public because you would see it isn’t how the media paints the picture. I won’t go into anymore its irrelevant. Everyone should just move on with their life as I’m sure he’s trying to do now. Just know…. If they could have locked him up forever they would have. The case had holes. The boy was older than he claimed. In 20 years of working with kids there are NO others…. In fact there was a petition of teenage boys stating how great a guy he is and that he never abused them even though he had lots of opportunities. And as far as none of his clients working. My son does just fine. Marty got him into acting and supported us every step of the way. We are sad he is out of the business but obviously understand why. We wish him the best trying to create a new life. Maybe someday they will make a movie of his life so you can all see the whole story. Until then, move on.
You might want to go back and read the article and comments back when he was arrested in December. Hope your child wasn’t hurt by him but if I was your son I highly doubt I’d admit it to you.

California has a three strike rule. He molests one more kid who has the courage to come forward, and he goes to prison for life! Even if he steals something. One more strike and he’s out. Hopefully an abuser was stopped.
I think I agree with everything people are saying. What bothers me is the fact that it isn’t until after he’s been convicted that another adult is required when he’s in the presence of a minor. My question is why he was alone with minors on that many occasions, and for that period of time. I don’t feel as though there’s any situation where a talent agent needed to be alone without parental supervision then, let alone now. Where were the parents?
