EXCLUSIVE: The Unusuals and My Generation creator Noah Hawley is back at ABC with a new hourlong project, this time joined by producers Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci. The network has handed out a script commitment with penalty to a high-script drama revolving around a mysterious game, which Hawley will write. Kurtzman and Orci’s K/O Paper Products is producing with 20th Century Fox TV where the company is based. Hawley, Kurtzman, Orci and Heather Kadin executive produce. CAA-repped Hawley was a writer on Fox’s dramedy Bones before going on to create two series for ABC, The Unusuals and My Generation, which was based on a Swedish format. This marks the second sale for K/O this season. The company’s first pitch, Sleepy Hollow, to be written by Kurtzman, Orci and Phillip Iscove and to be directed by Len Wiseman, sold to Fox with a put pilot commitment.

I just heard Noah on the Nerdist Writer’s Panel and he seems like a smart lad. Glad to see he can still sell a project after My Generation (which was a good concept… in theory) was yanked out from under him.
The joining of a pod that can’t get a series on the air and a writer who’s been consistently canceled?! What could go wrong?
Couldn’t agree more. Do these guys have compromising photos of the powers that be at ABC?
don’t get this town at all — some people get so many bites at the apple… each of these clowns must have compromising photos of the decision makers at abc
could not have happened to better people
This is good to hear. I love Noah’s writing!
hawley’s first show was cancelled before 13, his second was cancelled after two (which i think earned it the dubious distinction of being the first yanked that season)… i don’t get this town — how man bites at the apple do you give someone? hopefully 3 strikes and you’re out and “they” give someone else a shot to grab the brass ring.
Jenga: The Series
I’m sure this won’t turn out well, considering how sub-mediocre My Generation was…
The Unusuals was a great series that was mismarketed. MyGen should be forgiven because it was an adaptation — and how well did NBC’s Prime Suspect, another adaptation, do, eh? Maybe the third time will be the charm. Good luck, Noah.
Noah is the real deal. Best writer in town.
Buncha jealous/bitter commentators.
Shows on broadcast get cancelled all the time
Unusuals had Jeremy Renner Pre Hurt Locker Oscar nom….ABC stupidly cancelled it
