ABC has pulled new improv comedy series Trust Us With Your Life after two weeks on the air. The series was hosted by Fred Willard, and the move comes two weeks after his arrest for lewd contact. Insiders insist that the two incidents are not related. Indeed, unlike PBS, which fired Willard as the as the voice of Market Warriors right after the alleged incident, ABC kept Trust Us on the air last week as scheduled. Willard himself tweeted about that, “I was not fired from “TUWYL,” so B sure 2 watch,” he wrote last Tuesday. But the controversy didn’t translate to a ratings bump, with Trust Me tumbling 33% from its anemic premiere to a 0.6/2 in adults 18-49 and less than 2 million viewers to become ABC’s lowest-rated telecast of the summer. The network will replace the remaining episodes of Trust Me with Wipeout repeats.

No surprise ABC pulled this drivel off the air, not just because of Willard and his stupid behavior but the content as a whole was just primarily bad and non-sensical in scope.
The interview aspect was a strange concept that got in the way of the improv. They should just let Colin, Brad, Wayne and Greg do what they do best without the celebrity interview angle.
This show was beneath the talents of Mr. Willard. He’s a comedy legend, and the incident in theater will not sully his reputation among those who know his litany of hilarious guest spots.
ABC has to answer to the stockholders. And so it goes…
Willard is definitely funny, but he seems to take any job that’s offered to him. He needs to start being a little more selective.
The concept of the show just didn’t work.
Trying to improv moments from a celebrity’s history didn’t work well at all. When Ricky Gervais was on the show, even he was baffled with how the concept of the show worked.
Also, the variety of the improv games were really lackluster as well.
Nothing was worse than seeing that Rob Cordry lookalike mime to an outdated song for 2 minutes.
I miss Ryan Stiles. And dare I say it… Drew Carey as the host.
I like how the Deadline Breaking News scroller for this article reads: “ABC pulls Fred Willard”.
Clever girl.
Yeah, the concept was clunky at best. Willard wasn’t really a great host in that he didn’t really seem to be in-step with the actors.
But I guess ABC didn’t want to pay the licensing fee for more Whose Line…?, so they went with an “original” idea.
My kids and I really loved that show and it was something we enjoyed watching together. Why can’t they just replace the host? Why should the other actors lose their job because of one bad apple?
