Game Show Network announced that it has set an August 23 premiere date for The American Bible Challenge, the Jeff Foxworthy-hosted game show that the network announced back in January. The one-hour show tests contestants on their Bible knowledge and is produced by Who Wants To Be A Millionaire executive producer Michael Davies of Embassy Row and Tom Forman of RelativityREAL. Questions will be drawn from the Bible’s narrative, and a team of contestants will play for a charitable organization. Bible Challenge will air Thursdays at 8 PM and be followed at 9 with another new series, Beat The Chefs, which also premieres August 23.

Heaven help us! What a god awful idea.
maybe you mite learn somthing
Really! Wow tv really is a wasteland.
That’s exactly what this country needs today . . . wholesome family TV programming.
Some additional ideas:
“Name that Hymn”
“The Pope-rah Winfrey Show”
“Big Father”
“The $20,000 Altar”
“Kardashian Christmas Mass”
“Altar Boy Idol”
“Praying With the Stars”
“So You Think You Can Chant”
The continued dumbing down of America continues.
What the hell has happened to GSN? Ever since this new woman became the head of programming (can’t remember her name, sorry), she has taken GSN right into the doldrums of becoming irrelevant. I liked it when GSN had all the old game shows and grant it, due to rights issues and such, they can’t air certain shows but what they have airing now on that network has been rubbish and continues to follow that path with these new offerings. Time to maybe consider a new programming director there.
Don’t blame “this new woman.” Blame the same management team that has run that network into the ground for the past 5 years. Goldhill and his henchmen aren’t just bad programmers. They’re bad people as well.
LOL relax, people. No kool-aid chugging – just a game show.
Sorry, but this is the worst idea I’ve heard in ages. This show would have too narrow of a market. Seriously, how many people are well versed on the bible and subscribe to GSN? Bristol Palin’s show was probably a better idea.
I may be crazy, but I am looking forward to this new show. Why are people so against such an idea? Is it that they are afraid to show their ignorance about scripture, or is it that they feel it is politically inadvisable to actually LIKE a religious based program that isn’t preaching to them, asking for money like televangelists do, trying to force them to join a church, or what? No one will be forcing them to watch. If you don’t like the idea, you have the freedom to choose another channel. But don’t bash those of us who like the idea, or bad-mouth the creators.
Hi, I just wanted to reply back, and say I agree with you, you said a mouth full, and that is Heavenly!! God Bless You, Thank You God!!
Jesus did say that he would set up His church at the gates of Hell — I think Hollywood is a good substitute — I personally am all for it!! I work with seniors who all watch the game shows…what a refreshing idea…and just think of all those greedy sinners who will be hearing the WORD of the Lord! Let the Father, Son and Holy Spirit do HIS work! Amen and amen!!
Amen to that, I am so glad to see that someone else has commented on this, and a very strong based comment at that!!! God Bless You!!
I am actually very excited about this. I see it as a reason to finally turn my tv back on. I am so tired of these low class, morally corrupt, and mind numbing “reality” shows, sitcoms, and adult cartoons that are plaguing society today. This is a turn in the right direction. I love that they will be playing for the benefit of others. I am intrigued to see how this game show “plays” out. I will be tuning in and spreading the word to my friends to do the same. Thank you GSN for having the guts to go against the grain and air this show on your network!
I dont see why all the negativity surrounding this. Turn the channel, dont hate. You obviosuly arent christians (God said to love) if you are throwing out all this hate speach. But no, we must we take Christ out of everything, its not politically correct to have talk about Christ on TV. Whats next, ban all the church broadcasts on Sunday morning, then what, make it illegal for a church to have a website? Oh yeah, while were at it, lets remove theBible from all the online book stores so people cannot conviently worship God. Lets make it a chore to worship so everyone doesnt want to. Stop hating on ideas, if it fails then it fails, no need for you to bash it before it ever starts.
What a GREAT idea! The bible is the most complex piece of literature the world has ever seen. No one can reach its endless depths. It will be fun to watch people try. Well don GSN!
Oops! ‘done’
I think this is a good idea, maybe it may cause some to take their dusty Bibles off the shelves and actually open it.
I am looking forward to see this show. It certainly is a good idea.
I celebrate you and Hats off to your producers, directors and all those involved in the decision making process for your brilliance for having a game show of bringing the oldest book “The Bible” to the forefront. I welcome you!
Change is always good. Sometimes not easy but will prove beneficial in the long run. We perish for the lack of knowledge. This show can not hinder but only better all humanity. Ignore your critics, naysayers and keep moving forward. Sure you will be talked about but the world will be watching you and telling others about you. How cool is that? You will make a significant difference even in the life of those who may be pessimistic at first. This is a new day in time to have productive shows that are fun, innovative, educational, inspirational and life-changing as well as entertaining. There is power in knowing the Word. I believe this show will help even Christians to know that it is okay to laugh, enjoy life, don’t be ashame of your faith and have lots of fun. Besides, the one thing that caught my attention is that The American Bible Challenge is geared towards helping charities in need. It is more blessed to give than to receive. Stay focused and watch your ratings go straight to the top. Thank you for taking a huge, bold approach to sharpen us so that together we all can leave and indelible mark on earth to help others for generations to come. Thank you and God bless you! ~ Brag in His Name!
Great idea, why are people scared of the Bible?
I can’t wait for this show. I’m sure I’ll get my Bible out and look up the answers. Maybe it will inspire me to go back to church. I think this is a great way to spread the word as Christians are supposed to be doing if they are real Christians. I just hope they don’t try to be politically correct. Just the truth.
It’s an amazing idea! This show is going to be great. People are seeing religion as less and less important day by day. A show like that won’t hurt! I’ve read most of the Bible a couple times, and I’d like to see how I’ll do!
Everyone. Just calm down!!!
What is “dumbing down” to some is “wising up” to others. This country could use a LOT more wisdom! Great idea!
I think this a great idea, can’t wait to watch.
Thanks GSN. I hope it is a big hit.
I would like to know how to become a contestant for the show?
I’m looking forward to checking it out. Why is it cool now days to hate on Christianity based anything? What ever happened to the “In God we trust” America I once knew?
Can’t wait! I am excited about this new show. And then the proceeds going to charities is a great idea too.
What a great idea. If you don’t like the idea, don’t watch it. Their are millions worldwide who will enjoy it!
