UPDATE: Christian Bale and his wife traveled to the town of the Aurora movie
theater shooting and spent 2 1/2-hours meeting with seven gunshot victims who posted photos of their meeting Batman on the Internet. Warner Bros made it very clear to Deadline that The Dark Knight Rises star was representing himself, not the movie studio. (Though I hear studio reps accompanied him.) “The patients were really happy to meet Bale,” a hospital spokesperson said. “They are obviously big fans of his movies. They wanted to see Batman and were really pleased to see Bale.” Bale specifically asked that media not be notified of his trip. “He wanted to meet with victims and police,” the spokesperson said.

for the snarkaholics..look at the faces of the victims he’s with..they are happy..they’re glad he came.
enough said..that’s what matters.
Agreed. He made their day less awful: how could anyone be cynical about that?
Christian Bale is Batman now.
Christian Bale is a class act. He has never been into the fame and forture of movies. He’s always been about the story, the character, the director.
Taking the time to go to Aurora on his own, with his wife, is very much in keeping with the man himself.
BRAVO Mr Bale BRAVO…………
This was wonderful of CB to do this and he did this on his own. It’s a great gift for the people who were injured. He deserves some kind of humanitarian medal and Anne Hathaway should make her own visit to the hospital before the end of this week.
THANK YOU CHRISTIAN BALE! I believe in my heart that your intentions were genuinely from YOUR heart.
I agree with most of these posts – but could someone please use a word other than “classy”? Kind, amiable, respectable, etc.
A class act.
I’ve become a big Bale fan.
It is what it is! Whether a publicity thing or out of genuine kindness- as long as it took the victims out of their minds and they enjoyed his company for those 2 1/2 hrs…Then that’s really what’s important right!
What a great thing to do. I’m sure it was not easy for him to go there amid all that tragedy. He probably put a smile on everybody’s face, the victims, police, and hospital staff after everything they’ve been through. Probably what they needed most.
Thanks to people like you who hold the theatres accountable for the behavior of lunatics who will do anything to get around the rules, we soon will all have to endure x-ray scans before seeing a movie. Mark my words.
I feel bad for anyone forced to suffer thru Gangster Squad. Looks awful.
Bale visiting victims = “Classy.”
President of the United States visiting victims = “Camera hog, shilling for votes, did it for the cameras.”
Racist double standards = Plain as day.
that has nothing to do with Obama’s heritage. cynical people wpuld have said that for Bush if it was him.
anyway Bale is indeed a classy, cool guy!
Not racist. Who would you rather see at the hospital: a politician or Batman?
Not at all. Bale goes on his own ad we only find out about it when the victims post pics on twitter. The president goes with camera crews and reporters following him every step of the way.
Is it nice that he went? Of course it is. But to call it anything other than publicity is just being ignorant.
I think Gangster Squad is based on Mickey Cohen, the infamous Jewish gangster from LA’s noir days. It’s a fascinating story, so it could be really good.
Such an incredibly nice gesture.
Well done Christian..A Lovely and heartfelt gesture..A True Brit.
Class act
Mr. Bale is one of the few actors who have a strong set of principles and his heart in the right place. Not to mention he did this on his own without asking others to pay his way.
Props to Christian Bale
How very Christian of Christian! Well done!
