EXCLUSIVE: Comedy Central has handed out a pilot order to Tiny Apartment, executive produced, written by and starring Jessie Cantrell, Mike O’Gorman and Pat Driscoll. Based on the trio’s Web series of the same name, Tiny Apartment centers around a young couple, Jessie (Cantrell) and Mike (O’Gorman), living in a rundown apartment in New York City. Though their building is not structurally sound, and their eclectic neighbors can often be difficult, they make the best of their situation with a little help from beer, take out, and their best friend, Pat (Driscoll). You can watch below the first episode in the Web series, Sexy Night. Also executive producing the Comedy Central pilot are Joe Kelly and Mosaic’s Jimmy Miller and Sam Hansen, along with Tristram Shapeero, who will direct. Tiny Apt and Tristram Shapeero are managed by Mosaic, with Tiny Apt repped by UTA and attorney Lev Ginsburg, and Tristram repped by WME.

Man, that was rough. Seems like anyone with just a minuscule amount of talent and camcorder can get a show picked up these days. Good for them.
Yeah…could barely watch the first minute with the camera jumping back and forth at odd angles between the two. Ever hear of the 180 degree rule or an axis of action? I’ve seen high school projects that were directed better.
cannot wait!
I hope subsequent episodes are like 1000 times better than that. Because on every level, that was unequivocally horrible. Not just the script (which has zero laughs) and the performance. But the lazy, lackluster shooting and editing. What did they spend like an hour total from production to post. There are college kids making better looking, better sounding, better produced videos with only a day or two’s time.
Agreed that the production itself is abysmal. Why are they both talking to screen left!? THAT’S NOT HOW YOUR SHOOT A CONVERSATION, PEOPLE!
Once I got over that, it was actually pretty funny though.
You do realize that they won’t actually be shooting the television series themselves, right? That’s like a scout complaining about a basketball player’s uniform.
point out one joke — ONE — that was funny. Or at least one clever line of dialogue then… Since hopefully, they will be responsible for that.
I thought the Princess Leia bit was humourous and laughed during the bloody nose sequence.
“like a scout complaining about a basketball player’s uniform?” hahahhahaha. Now that’s actually funny. For how stupidly lame that analogy is… Actually, since these people are being paid to write and produce a television show — complaining about the writing and production is like a scout complaining about a jump shot, or free throw percentage… You know the actual skills their being paid to utilize.
The guy was complaining about the “lacklustre shooting and editing”. They will not be doing either of that. That was, of course, my point. Another analogy: Complaining about the fact a singer recorded a video on a Macbook, instead of with an HD camera. She’s not trying to get a job as a music video director, just as these two people are not trying to get a job shooting and editing a television show. And guess what? They obviously did it well enough to make Comedy Central take notice.
These guys are very kewl, talented, and genuine. This is just the beginning!!
I was a fan of this webseries from it’s beginning, having followed it’s creators from Black20. It’s very funny and I’m sure the pilot will be strong. They have an original voice, which I think will be a perfect fit for Comedy Central.
man, seems like anybody with a computer can be a jerk on the internet. I started watching, i kept watching, I’m still watching, I think it looks great!
I loved it. Very funny. Very irreverent. Very fresh. Keep up the good work, guys. I am your newest fan.
P.S. Cannot believe the hate on this site. People need to create before they hate.
Joe Kelly? The Cardinals’ pitcher?
So proud for this amazing talented group! This is just a slice of all the amazing things they are capable of!
Awesome, can’t wait. I always knew mike was destined for stardom. Best of luck!
I LOVE THESE GUYS!! So happy that it will be full broadcast show. Congrats!
this has been an awesome web series for a long time. very much deserved the pick up.
It’s not about being a hater, it just didn’t appeal to many of us at all. The acting, shooting, and all the tech credits on this short were abysmal. Perhaps there’s something more here, but this won’t go much beyond a pilot if they don’t replace the actors and work on the story. It’s a amusing premise, but this was not very well executed. It’s probably less a reflection of the creators and more a result of the things that are coming in to CC and what the taste of the executives over there are liking.
I didn’t hate it, but hopefully someone at Comedy Central will teach them about the 180 rule before it airs.
boy, that episode was a real knee-slapper.
Great news! These guys are super talented and I think they’ll be a perfect fit for Comedy Central. I’ve been following the web series and I can only imagine what they’ll bring to a full 30 minutes. I hope they get picked up!
Missed 101. Terrible basic shots.
Congratulations!!!
I’m glad to see the future in entertainment come to past. This is good news to all those self made film makers.
I’ve followed the web series and-like any comedy series- there have been some great episodes and a few maybe not so great. That said, there have been more than a few that have made me laugh so hard I was crying! This is raw talent, people. With a little polish (not too much, please) Tiny Apartment is going to be huge! You can take that to the proverbial bank!
Joe Kelly is a talented writer and amazing producer. This project is lucky to have him and I bet his expertise will get this thing on the air.
To everyone hating on Tiny Apartment – okay, we get it. You went to a crappy film school, or learned how to edit with Windows Movie Maker. So what if they broke the 180 rule? If you’re basing your opinions on the first episode in the series, well, you’re an idiot. First episodes are always crap. Why don’t you watch Mikesomnia – “Use the fork, Lukes. . .” Yeah, try acting like a hater now!
First episodes are not always crap. Check the first episode to Broad City. Shit was hilarious.
Why is everyone judging the merits of Tiny Apartment based on its cinematography and editing? None of that has anything to do with the Pilot CC has ordered. Isn’t it pretty clear they are going to have a new director and producer? So why does it matter what this webisode looks like when shot?
So hilarious!! They’ve done so much with so little help too.
It’s funny imagining who all the negative nellies are: sweaty nerds writing their geeky critiques while they pick their noses and eat fritos. Keep up the awesome work Tiny Apartment – so happy I found you!
This is a brilliant show, but they only put up the pilot which was the only episode that wasn’t that great. The rest of the series actually has quite intelligent and quick dialogue that sometimes takes a minute to realise just how funny it was, with lots of nuance. I suggest watching the rest of the series before commenting, it wont take long they’re pretty short, or an episode like ‘brians’, ‘roof party’ or even just the second episode ‘take out’. Hope it plays here in Australia!
