UPDATE, 1:55 PM: As we told you yesterday was likely to happen, the Twilight panel is now showing scenes from Stephenie Meyer’s new movie The Host. It’s fitting that Meyer and distributor Open Road would try to convert the Twihard masses to the author’s follow-up movie here in San Diego, given that the Twilight Saga franchise helped make Comic-Con such an important cog in movie marketing. Meyer has only published a single novel, but it’s believed she has already written the next two installments of a trilogy. Just as Twilight focused on a love triangle between Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner, the Andrew Niccol-directed Host does the same with characters played by star Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons and Jake Abel. The Host opens Easter weekend 2013.
PREVIOUS, 1:10 PM: Hall H is hopping at the moment as director Bill Condon via satellite just told the crowd they will be seeing the first seven minutes of Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, which is on the screen right now. The crowd gave a raucous reaction to castmembers Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson, Kristin Stewart, Mackenzie Foy and author Stephenie Meyer, as Bella gets used to the visceral nature of being a vampire. The crowd reacted with a roar.

UGH. From one craptastic movie franchise to another. Can’t Twilight and its assorted crapitude just leave Comic-Con and go somewhere else? I guarantee everyone else at Comic-Con will be HAPPY to see them go. And good riddance if they do!
Since the The Host isn’t a trilogy, and Meyer herself said that sequels may not be a possible future, and that the movie is still post production I think it’s safe to say your opinion is devoid of any true substance.
Here, here! Make way for such quality material like Expendables 2! Are you kidding me? Comicon is defined by summer, guilty-pleasured crap. Guys just get antsy with twilight cause guys show their nipples in them and they actually have nice bodies now as oppossed to the crypt keepers in Expendables…
never seen or read the twilight movies/books but the host is a pretty good book, and its not really a love triangle
The last 1/3 or so of the book did have a love triangle–and if you strip away the vampire and werewolf aspects of the males, they have a lot of the same qualities as Edward and Jacob.
That’s no treat.
I’m surprised they didn’t decide to split The Host into two parts.
Twilight did WHAT for Comic-Con?!?!?
Lets just say that The Comic Con will have less visitors in the next year.
Does anybody know how many orange trucks were? built for the movie? (Bella’s 1962 chevrolet pickup truck) I heard that they used more than one and I just saw one on ebay. Does anyone know which movie (1st,2nd, 3rd etc.) it was on?
meyer herself actually stated the host is meant to b a trilogy and that she is already working on the second book…..it isnt crap…..twilight just had very terrible actors…..the host is completely different and looks promising especially since saoirse ronan is playing the lead role!
