The Community panel wasted no time in addressing the departure of Dan Harmon this morning.

“The only thing we care about is keeping it the weird wonderful gem it always has been, said new producer David Guarascio to applause from the packed ballroom. “We’re not going to screw it up,” the other new showrunner Moses Port added later. Guarascio and Port became Community’s showrunners after Harmon was fired by NBC in May. Cast members Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Joel McHale, Yvette Nicole Brown, series writers Megan Ganz, Andy Bobrow and executive producer Russ Krasnoff joined the showrunners on the panel. Chevy Chase, Ken Jeong, Donald Glover and Jim Rash were not there.

Beyond joking about how close the show came to ending, plugging the new DVD release and who would play McHale’s father on the upcoming season (“Pluto Nash himself, Eddie Murphy,” laughed McHale), the panel was very much for hard-core fans of the show. Guarascio did tease out the upcoming season for a bit. “This is a family that will continue to exist whether they’re in school or not,” he said noting that some cast members would be graduating from the community college that stands as the series’ setting. Guarscio also told fans that “We are going to get to go to an Inspector Space Time convention.” The panel closed after some cast freestyle hip-hop rhymes, with questions from the audience.

Deadline's Dominic Patten - tip him here.

Deadline always seems to have a hard time remembering that Donald Glover is also on the show…
I was just thinking that! That’s so strange. Donald, Alison Brie, and Joel McHale are literally the three most popular and well known actors on this series. It’s kind of strange no word in the above article if Donald was there or not.
…but NOT present at this Comic-Con panel, which is probably why he isn’t mentioned.
I was going to say the same thing. The past 3 Deadline articles I have read regarding Community have left Glover out of the cast. What gives?
Anyway, based on dudes hair in that photo (and the quote too, i guess) I have much higher hopes for the future of our beloved study group. Here’s hoping they can come through on that promise.
Don’t make promises you can’t or won’t keep, guys. If you blow this (and I’m 50/50 on whether you will or won’t), you will NEVER hear the end of it. EVER.
“free style hip hop rhymes”
Why did Bob Greenblatt fire Dan Harmon? Isnt Greenblatt supposed to be a great network executive?
Very difficult to work with, apparently.
Dan Harmon is a douchebag who’s asking people on twitter to help kickstart a project for him and Charlie Kauffman. Lost all respect for him. Pay for your own project, Dan.
It’s Krasnow. Not that it matters. He hasn’t really had anything to do with the show for a long time.
Is anybody else as sick and tired of reading about b-o-r-i-n-g Comic Con as I am? Geez. Give it a rest. Another broken Hollywood over and over and over again repeater. Close the tent.
They’re going to screw it up.
Am I the only one confused about why Community is at Comic Con. At least comic books and superhero characters are a part of Big Bang Theory’s storyline, so their participation makes some sense. But Community being at Comic Con feels just feels out of place; the same as it would feel were 30 Rock or Modern Family to be there.
Huge demographic overlap. Besides, the show is one big love letter to pop culture. Much less weird than Breaking Bad, Glee and the Expendables.
There must be some Comic-Con appeal because they moved it to a bigger room after last years was packed, and they easily filled up Ballroom 20 this year (although Firefly probably helped).
Community is a sci-fi show hidden inside a single-camera sitcom.
