looks pretty insane. i like it.
Agreed! Creepy good.
It’s good to see women of the future are as vapid and sex-crazed as Cronenberg wishes them to be…
Looks awful.
But then Cronenberg is like Gus Van Sant and Soderbergh – never really can deliver story wise. Always lacking.
The reviews of this are not good.
Uh, no. Ive read reviews, and they were mixed to good. RT at 63% fresh. It’s Cronnenberg, not for everyone. Acting getting good marks. I’m a Cronnenberg fan, so I’ll be seeing this.
So like INCEPTION and THE MATRIX but with really dull actors doing their Keir Dullea in 2001 impressions. Cronenberg needs to get back to that RABID kind of energy. That was so good. This looks so not.
Looks great, classic Cronenburg, heard that it is a heavy dialogue mind game movie
Am looking forward to something other than superheroes or fantasy movies
This one looks is for intelligent adults
what the what? i haven’t a clue what this movie is about. trailers aren’t what they used to be.
I saw this in Canada. I was the seventh or eight person to walk out after 15 minutes. I’m in the business and have never left a movie so early. It’s experimental theater dialogue – completely unfit for the screen. Pattinson cannot pick a winner post Twilight.
who walks out of a film after 15 mins? i remember people walking out of tree of life, because it was “stupid” or “sucked” i enjoyed that film. probably means i’ll enjoy this one as well.
Sorry but IMO those who don’t hasve the patience to watch a damn movie until the end, don’t have a right to express an opinion on the subject. I think the problem is that this is not what people expect to see, some don’t like to be suprised, some don’t like to think a little because they immediately develop a migraine, for some this just isn’t their type and we can’t argue about that – but to dismiss a movie because is experimental and chooses to push tha boundaries of cinema – that’s not right. Sure let’s elevate mediocre or just plain bad movies such as: Twilight, Snow White, Abraham Lincon – the vampire hunted or any other uninteresting movie Multiplexes choose to buy – to levels they don’t deserve just because it entertains us … but movies like this are treated like crap.
It’s funny that you consider Cosmopolis “not a winner” – I disagree, it’s absolutely a winner! It’s amusing what happenes if you destroy some people’s 2 hours of paid entertainment. This is not mainstream cinema, people. It’s not Hollywood and it’s not blockbuster material. I don’t know what the distributors or film promoters thought they could take out of this. It’s obvious that if it wasn’t starring Pattinson, it would’t have been distributed in multiplexes and such. It’s a movie that has a very specific audience and I don’t think this film is something people expecting Pattinson’s romantic charaters would apreciate. I’m quite very impressed with Pattinson, actually, the kid did great in the movie and I’m also impressed with what he chooses to star in after Cosmopolis. It’s kind of obvious THIS is his kind of thing, not Twilight. Some will think that he went downhill from Twilight, Boxoffice wise, but he definitely chose the quality road. Unfortunately, these days, quality films don’t bring too much money, so he won’t be boxoffice king anymore, but I’m glad that with the power he has because of his bankability – he helped films like Cosmopolis or his upcoming movies with the directors of Johnny Mad Dog and Animal Kingdom – get made. And for that he is, in my eyes, indeed a winner!
15 mins is all you saw? Your opinion doesn’t count then. Sorry no big explosions on this one.
There is nothing convincing or coherent in this trailer. Pattinson looks epically miscast. IMHO.
that’s funny, cause the majority of reviews liked pattinson’s performance even more than the film itself.
Well this looks like a schizophrenic mess. Hollywood will throw money at anything these days, huh?
“Hollywood” didn’t throw any money at this. According to Cronenberg’s interviews it was a joint Canadian/European project. Personally I enjoyed it; more the second half than the first. The main character seems uncomfortable and awkward in the beginning (almost like he has Aspergers) but for me the entertainment came from watching how he unravels. I don’t think the promoters are doing the film any favours by making it seem more fast paced than it is.
Why do some people think all movies come from Hollywood. That’s so ignorant on your part, sir! It’s Cronenberg – Hollywood whishes but they couldn’t buy him. He does what he wants and he doesn’t need a stupid Hollywood studio to restrain him from doing what he does.
Here in France almost all the critics loved the film and especially Pattinson’s performance. I hate twicrap but I loved the film and Pattinson, he turned in that role, his manner of speaking, moving, he looks like another person. it is not a film for all audiences, especially not for the American public, who hates movies that are not pre-chewed and are thought-provoking, but in the midst of so much mediocrity filled with explosions and CGI , Cronenberg did for me figure of a resistant, one of the last of the Mohicans. sorry for my english.
And if French critics were worth talking about, your post would mean something.
This trash isn’t thought producing, it’s migraine inducing. Big difference.
oh, you are a ” I haven’t seen and I didn’t like ” kind of critic? hahaha
Looks interesting and a lot different from the same old same old. I like Cronenberg, but wasn’t overly fond of A Dangerous Method though. I’ll search this one out, love Giamatti and I’m one of those that are rooting for Pattinson over the longer haul.
