Warner Bros has done everything possible to keep a lid on the details of the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises. So it’s a shocker that today the studio posted a 49-page document filled with production notes – including a synopsis a well as some dialogue and several interviews with the main actors and other behind-the-scenes intel –on the ‘About The Film’ section of the official website. Deadline has decided to publish the notes (via .pdf here) since they’re in the public domain. Please do not read them if you want to be surprised when the finale of Chris Nolan’s Batman trilogy opens nationwide on July 20th.

It’s just everything we already knew except written longer. Nothing new. All this stuff is shown in the trailers.
Nothing in those 49 pages spoils the film.
Best film of the year.
good job Jonathan. Writing is your talent
Saw a screening of the film for me and about 20 others. It’s amazing and a masterpiece. The bar has been raised yet again for the genre, action filmmaking, and here’s hoping Oscar finally recognized this with at least a nomination. Yes, it is possible to have a film that pleases fans, non-fans, moviegoers, critics, execs, and make a ton of $$$$. “The Dark Knight Rises” is such a film.
Thanks for the info, good to hear. Cannot wait
What’s the current tracking for TDKR?
Last time I checked was a little over a week ago in which they said it would open, conservatively, at a lowball of $150 million.
I hear it’s tracking so poorly they’re going to push it back to September so they can add more Channing Tatum to all the story arcs.
The production notes really aren’t that spoiler-heavy. Don’t read them if you’re hoping to go into the movie completely blind, but if you’ve watched the trailers, etc., then the production notes won’t really give anything away.
Still an interesting read, though.
OMG! The production notes are sooooooo RAD!
Ditto what Lethargic said.
The document does, however, reveal a portion of the film’s timeline.
1. After eight years of low crime, Bruce is mopey and Gordon is itchy.
2. Selena Kyle takes a shot at cat-burgling something from Wayne Manor.
3. Bane engineers a daring mid-air escape or attack.
4. Bane blows up the football field.
The Bane/Bat fights all happen after this.
It’s also easy enough to surmise that Bane’s also behind the hostile takeover attempt of Wayne Enterprises. From the dialogue in the trailer, whatever Bane’s got against Wayne is personal. Wild guess – Bane’s injuries are related to Wayne Enterprise military technology. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bane’s training also came courtesy of Wayne Enterprises. IOW, Bane’s got it in for Wayne because Wayne is the ultimate cause of Bane’s pain. And Bane is a product of Wayne.
Oh, and if it wasn’t revealed before (I haven’t read the comics, forgive me), we know Bane’s mask is actually a medical device. Silly me, I just thought it would make it easier for Bane to take a poke in the nose.
All the shit you just said about Bane and Wayne is wrong. Nice guess though, but incorrect.
I kinda hope you’re right, because I hate when trailers and press releases and posters give everything away.
I can’t wait until this movie opens, and absolutely destroys The Amazing Spiderman, critically and financially.
The advertising campaign for this film disgusts me, the man with the mask over his face is vile and scary. If they only put it where adults would see it, fine. But in Los Angeles it is plastered all over The Grove and The Americana, and around parks and schools. It’s not appropriate imagery for kids, and I’m now dealing with nightmares from my 3-year-old who loves superheroes. I know plenty of people will jump on me for saying this, but our billboard advertising regulations are lame, and lead to scary and inappropriate imagery for kids put up all over the city. There should be a ratings system for these campaigns.
Dre,
Please finish Detox and leave advertising to advertisers
@Dr. Dre: What place could they put it, out doors, where only adults can see it? Sexual imagery, I agree with you. A scary man on a poster? Not so much. I was scared of a million images when I was a kid. It never lasted for long. Your three year old will be fine.
You know, I have to agree with this. Advertisements, billboards in particular, take up a huge chunk of our visual landscape. It’s ridiculous that we allow advertisers to fill our environment with all kinds of dark and negative imagery.
I’m a fan of the Dark Knight series and I am going to see this movie, but I don’t need Bane’s face plastered all over my city.
Can’t tell if trolling or really stupid.
You have got to be kidding me
If you are talking about the “bad guy” character with the metal tubes coming out of his face, kind of a gas-mask type of thing, I agree with you. There are appropriate neighborhoods for that kind of advertising, and places that are less so.
I hope you are not talking about the Batman mask itself.
Is this for unreal?
Production notes are a normal part of every film campaign and the press has full access to them normally on epk.tv but in this case WB decided to post them for the masses on the most anticipated film of the year. Big deal.
Haven’t seen it; don’t need to. Greatest film of all time, other than The Avengers, which was the greatest film of all time, at least since The Dark Knight.
I can’t wait to see it, it’s going to be awesome. If you don’t believe that, even after reading the posted synopsis (which I refuse to read, I want to be surprised when I see the greatest film of all time), then I feel bad for you, because you cannot appreciate greatness.
I’d go with that first thought, Ricky. Why bother to see it? Why risk spoiling the already awesome movie playing in that echoing auditorium you’re using for a head.
I agree about the disturbing imagery of Bane on billboards etc at Grove and on public transport. At worst, Tom Hardy and Nolan are depicting main villain dressed like some kinky gay leather porno actor doing Bondage films. At best, their visual idea of this villain is weak re-tread of George Miller (again gay muscle leatherman) from MAD MAX. This film “Rises” (or will fall flat) late in summer cycle.. audiences have xtreme fatigue from lame entries like MIB3, BattleSnore, etc. For WB, Rock of Ages being hurled out of Top10 after just one week shld be red flag for last Batman film too. It won’t bomb but could do considerably less than all those (m)assive egos are hoping for. It promises to be the Bane of our movie going xperience in August, like it or not.. sorry cldnt resist!
You couldn’t be more wrong and out of touch buddy
I totally agree — weird disturbing imagery. Not making me want to see it.
Gay porn? I guess you have seen a different Batman. Or someone slipped you a mickey.
I must say that I would greatly enjoy reading more positive reactions to the screening….BRING IT ON!!!! as the kiddies are so fond of saying and remember to keep ‘em spoiler free
