Better With You alum Jake Lacy will co-star on a series next season after all. Lacy played one of the leads in the Fox drama pilot The Goodwin Games that recast the role with T.J. Miller when picked up to series. Now Lacy has been cast in a new series regular role on NBC’s The Office. According to our sister site TVLine, Lacy will play a new staffer at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton. Lacy joins Clark Duke who also has been cast as a new regular on the veteran comedy series this fall.

Should of just cancelled it…Last year was embarassing. Bring Steve Carell back for a episode and end it.
Yes “J” …couldn’t be more right!!Let a wonderful show leave the network with the respect it deserves. Show’s done…had a great run. Like some kid named Lacey (who?) from a cancelled series is going to save the day? The show doesn’t need “”youth” it needs experienced talented actors…and none of them are stupid enough to want this “gig”. what’s wrong with Greenblatt…his judgement. once had such respect for his talent.
Haven’t watched the show since Carell’s last. What’s the point? He was what made The office.
They could add the Dali Llama, Nelson Mandela, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu to the cast, and it still would suck since Carrell isn’t there anymore.
I dunno – Tutu is a pretty funny guy.
Also not sure if those guys are super funny.
I may be in the minority, but I was getting tired of Steve Carrel. I think Jake Lacy is actually perfect for the Office, he reminds me of Jim Carrey in his younger years. He is just the breath of fresh air the show needs. I was really disappointed when he lost the gig on The Goodwin Games. That took TGG out of the top spot for shows I am most looking forward to next season, although it still looks hilarious. I don’t think the Office will go on for much longer, but I am going to watch it until the very last episode.
Show’s you what bad shape NBC was in last year that they actually renewed this when it’s clearly dying both creatively and ratings-wise. Then again, NBC being in such bad shape helped ensure that Grimm got a second season, so hey.
Great for lacy who was let go from the Goodwin games and gets this
Sad commentary on NBC’s development that they brought back this tired, played-out show.
The Office doesn’t need new characters. I certainly don’t want to watch some kid galloping around, taking screentime from characters I like. Just fix the writing.
Shows down’t get renewed because they have good ratings, they get renewed because they make the network money. Yes, The Office’s audience is down, but I bet they still get one of the best ad rates in TV for the show, so why the hell would NBC cancel it? Last season was clearly not the show’s best creatively, but it was hardly the abomination that everyone has made it out to be (and they finally figured out by the end of the year that Catherine Tate as the boss was a lot better than Andy as the boss). Jake Lacey is a super-likeable and funny actor, I think he’ll be a great fit.
i think jake is going to surprise a lot of people. his style is actually pretty perfect for a show like the office. better with you hired him off a taped audition in nyc. he’s got something. just watch
and of course the office is going to be different with no steve. but it’s still one of my favorite shows on tv. celebrate it, it won’t be around forever, and i bet you’ll miss it when it’s gone.
I’ve never understood the bitterness some people have toward bringing back a show they say they hate…really, who cares? It’s 30 minutes on a Thursday night. Does it even matter?
It’s clearly passed it’s prime, but maybe if they reload on a new cast they’ll find some magic again.
And in any rate, as another comment said, it’s the writing that was weak last season, not the cast.
But it’s just weird how bitter people are – “I haven’t watched since Carrel left!” Okay, great, then why are you offering an uninformed opinion?
