• Interesting. But still disappointed Rodriguez would actually give Mel Gibson a job.

  Even if the point is to see him get sliced into pieces by the end the film, Rodriguez apparently sees nothing wrong with hiring an anti-Semitic misogynist.

    Just like it was fine for Todd Phillips to hire a convicted rapist in Mike Tyson? Or countless directors hiring former drug addicts (list too long to mention).

    Hollywood is full of 2nd, 3rd and 25th chances. Mel’s a great talent. But, he’s also a batshit bigot – like a lot of America and the world.

    At some point, ‘celebrity’ needs to die and people need to watch a performer for their performance, not who they are in the outside world. All of them are imperfect and the idoltry of Hollywood needs to subside.

    • So, what you’re saying is, we should give O.J. Simpson more acting jobs? I mean, why not, he was great in the Naked Gun movies. No reason not to put him in a movie since what he is on-screen is completely different from who he is real life.

• Why does Rodriguez make sequels no one wants to see? The first Machete only made $44 million worldwide. It may have been cheap to make, but with marketing, etc. – and the box office says there wasn’t a huge interest in the film. Also, no one was begging for the last Spy Kids either, and it sucked ballz. I guess this is what happens when you have your own financing and don’t have to answer to anyone. Maybe accountability isn’t such a bad thing after all. And don’t get me started on Sharkboy and Lava Girl. “Hey, let’s make a movie based on a story my kids made up even though it’s super lame!!!”

• She’s temendously talented but that face is meant for radio, not the big screen.
