DreamWorks Studios‘ feature film based on the Electronic Arts video game franchise will be released wide by Disney on February 7, 2014. DreamWorks offically acquired feature film rights to the property last month after setting Act Of Valor co-director Scott Waugh to direct. George and John Gatins developed the original story and George is writing the script; John is producing with Mark Sourian. Need For Speed was the first major project expenditure DreamWorks made once the company came out of suspended animation while waiting for Reliance to invest cash in a re-up. The video game series has sold more than 140 million units worldwide.

‘No comments yet’. That speaks volumes about anyone’s interest in this project. And yes, a cherry bun for whoever points out that I’ve now commented on it myself. But the page just looked so lonely down here.
This NFS movie, I do hope holds the trues of NFS gaming, with all the many exotic cars in its genre. I can’t wait to see the movie.
will be good if he makes something like “carmageddon”, but not NFS.
2 words: Battle Ship.
This will just be another ‘I Am Number 4′ for Dreamworks. Another ‘gonne be huge franchise’ that no one cares about and ends up being a money sink.
If Dreamworks are as low on money and resources as people say they should be doing different, interesting things than anyone else because frankly they nearly lost their shirt trying to ape everyone else with their previous slate.
But did they learn a lesson or try and take risks? Nope. They are putting out a dollar store knock off of Fast/Furious.
Good job guys.
Knock off of Fast and Furious? Do you live under a rock? The Need for Speed series started back in 1994. That’s 7 YEARS before the first Fast and Furious which came out in 2001. Since when were originals knock offs? If anything F&F should be called a knock off of NFS.
really shut up kid, nfs series started in 94 with only supercars, so dont try with your gangstah tuner crap, show little bit respect to us old school gamers and also the original NFS series, if it hadent been for the first fast furious movie that showed up in 2001, then i think the nfs series never would go awy from its roots.
“Gangstah tuner crap” HA! I’m not a “gangstah” nor am I a tuner. I don’t modify cars. How am i disrespecting old school gaming and the NFS series by saying NFS came out long before F&F? Sorry to say bud, but I loved NFS and F&F too. All I was saying by my post was that NFS isn’t a knock off of F&F and you took that as disrespect to NFS and old school gaming. Alrighty than, so apparently according to you me defending the NFS title is disrespecting the title.
this sounds awsome, but i hope they would have chases like in the old games with stock supercars, and no tuning and no nos, but i look forward to this mowie:D
Ugh, just heard they’re filming “Need for Speed” in our beautiful valley near Mendocino. Those curvy roads are hazardous enough without glamorizing speed on them. Such a depraved concept, fuelled by the greed of studio idiots, which will lead to more accidents. And why?—merely to add a notch in the belt of American stupidity and capitalize off of the reckless classes of society, which is so not what this unspoiled alternative area is about.
