Former Warner Bros digital marketing executive Kelly Bennett joins Netflix as chief marketing officer at a time when the focus is intensifying on commissioning original programming, the company said. A nine-year Warner Bros veteran, Bennett led the international online campaigns for the latest Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes movies as well as the just-released Dark Knight Rises. His most recent post at Warner Bros was vice president, interactive, worldwide marketing. In his new job, Bennett will report to Netflix CEO Reed Hastings.

Strong hire – good to see Netflix moving forward with studio/digital marketing smarts.
Funny because I was just saying how WB really poorly marketed the Dark Knight Rises. Far too much market saturation of things that WB had kept under wraps previously. I wasn’t as eager to see it opening weekend because I had already seen so much online already.
To be far with 160 Million opening weekend, it seemed to work.
Any money spent advertising the final installment in the Dark Knight Trilogy was just wasted money. A poster, a commercial and a release date was all that was needed to draw a 160+ BO. Uggie could have more successfuly marketed this movie and wasted less money doing so.
