We told you a couple of months ago that Brendan Fraser sued producer Todd Moyer over a planned movie about William
Tell. Now Moyer is firing back with a complaint of his own. Moyer filed a lawsuit (read it here) yesterday in L.A. Superior Court against Fraser alleging assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Moyer claims Fraser punched him repeatedly in the chest on two different occasions, the first time in a hotel in Indianapolis where he and Fraser had been working with screenwriters on The Legend Of William Tell. According to the complaint, Fraser “in an intoxicated state began to physically push, verbally threaten and punch Plaintiff repeatedly in the chest”. The second time happened about a year later during a production meeting on Tell. Moyer claims Fraser began screaming threats, then hit him in the chest over 20 times when Moyer refused Fraser’s request to hire Charlotte Huggins as a producer on the project. According to the complaint, the incident occurred in front of “Tracy Brennan, the co-head of motion picture talent at Creative Artists Agency, Kim Hodgert, talent agent for Creative Artists Agency, and Eric Brevig, a well-known movie director”. Moyer is seeking unspecified general and punitive damages and other court costs.

Two people at Fraser’s agency and the director of one of Fraser’s movies will TOTALLY back up Moyer’s claims.
This happened at CAA! Holy smokes!
This seriously is like an episode of Entourage.
the only person in the world who would admit to being punched in the chest by brendan fraser is todd moyer…
Ok, I have to know what this means. It’s kind of hilarious.
It means that Moyer would say anything convenient to get a lawsuit going. If Fraser hit him in the chest, it was little slaps like a chick, while Moyer awkwardly tried to kiss him. Then Moyer claims damages. Weeeeeeeee. Tie up the court system, til his next trust fund check shows up and he can start another “production company”.
Sue-per heros indeed.
Moyer hasn’t done much with his career in 20 years, and he wasn’t liked back when he was at Dark Horse. Does this surprise anyone?
Um. You know all those nerds at comic-con? You know why they’re at comic-con? Todd Moyer.
Sorry, but THE MASK, SIN CITY? Those were early days and that was all him… before any of these Hollywood people even knew what comic-con was.
I think you’re over-inflating his importance to the Comic-Con International universe. It’s like saying there was one entity who pushed a button and the entire universe suddenly existed.
Dude, look up THE MASK and SIN CITY.
Todd Moyer is the reason all those nerds are down in comic-con, not to mention all these Hollywood jerk-balls.
You may not like the guy but give credit where credit is due…
Actually, I just wrapped a film called SQUATTERS that Todd Moyer produced.
Kind of a cool indy with Gabriella Wiles (who is super sweet, btw, and is now starring across Chloe Moretz in CARRIE) and Thomas Decker. Smart script, compared to most things you read.
The guy’s a producer, no one likes producers. But he’s seems to be able to get a movie made pretty easily. That’s all anyone cares about anyway.
SInce when does it matter if anyone’s liked? All that matters is if someone has a project people want.
It’s called Hollywood.
If you wanna be liked, call your mommy.
Cant wait to see how this plays out with talent agents having been in the room. Maybe they can sell this to Judge Judy or The Peoples Court starring Brendan Fraser. 10% of that $300 dollar fee would be more than they have made off him in the past five years.
Liked or not didn’t Dark Horse kind of define the comic book to film genre?
Yup. Dark Horse were the pioneers. And Todd Moyer, like him or not, was the VP and producer for them, down at comic-con buying all that stuff up before any of these Hollywood people had even heard of The Avengers.
But, I’m sure the nerds down there probably hate him, since back then nobody cared, and he was buying all that intellectual property up for a song.
Todd is a great guy. Honest, real, peppered with geek. Nothin’ wrong with that.
Thank you.
Moyer sues everybody, kind of the way other people enjoy a barbecue. He is abnormal — no known skills, homely, bipolar. You comic con nerds that want to believ he produced that stuff? He was an errand boy with skid marks in his undies that smelled kind of bad.
Okay, ” SueHappyFreaks”, you obviously know this Moyer and hate him for personal reasons.
Wait… are you Brendan Fraser?
This actually did happen. I know because for the rest of the day it’s all anyone was talking about. Sorry, but the truth hurts.
There were times when producers and actors settled such matters on the backlot, after that they had a beer together and made another movie…. Laywers screw up the biz.
