America’s Got Talent (1.9/6) took a stumble and hit a season low Wednesday night. Last night’s Quarterfinals show was down 32% from a two-hour episode two weeks ago. NBC’s Talent wasn’t the only competition show to falter last night. Fox’s live two-hour So You Think You Can Dance (1.9/6) was down 10% from its last show two weeks ago. Over on CBS, it was the season finale of the first season of Dogs In The City (0.9/3 ) last night but that didn’t bring any big send-off. Tied for its lowest rating so far, the reality dog training series was flat with June 27. Fox won the night among adults 18-49 and in terms of overall viewership with an audience of 5.74 million.
ABC went mainly for repeats with The Middle (1.0/4), Suburgatory (1.0/3), two episodes of Modern Family at 9 PM (1.4/4) and 9:30 PM (1.4/4). The network ended the primetime night with a new Final Witness (1.1/3), up from last week’s 0.7 series low broadcast. CBS had Criminal Minds (1.1/3) and CSI (1.1/3) repeats at 9 PM and 10 PM. NBC broadcast encore performances of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers (1.2/4) at 8 PM, Up All Night (0.7/2) at 8:30 PM and Law & Order:SVU (1.2/4) at 10 PM.

AGT had horrible lead ins last night and It still won the night. Not to mention the fact that result shows don’t bring in the same ratings as the compitistion. Anyway, love the show and Stern is great on it.
I actually find myself tuning out AGT because the talent, in my opinion, is just not there as in previous seasons. The judges are not doing there jobs and I think that NBC is trying to milk audiences for two hours where just isn’t that much to offer. More commercial time than time allotted to talent.
Too much babble from the three. More show and less reteric.
IF YOU BELIEVE THE HOWARD/HOWIE ISN’T STAGED FOR TV YOU ARE A BIG LUMP !! WHAT THEY SHOULD DID FOR RATINGS IS CUT” BIG BARRY ” IN HALF, I WOULD HAVE WATCHED THAT.
AGT is still number one in cars! No one cares about this dumbs show and casual fans left stern a long time ago.
Willie Lump sounds like an employee trying to drum up support for a lame ass show… lol
spin spin spin
AGT’s historically low ratings just confirm the fact that putting Stern on the show was a disaster. He’s awkward and forced on TV and when he tries to dominate the agenda like he does on his radio show, he just confuses the shows target audience. Stern never played to middle America, why he or AGT’s producers thought he could will go down as another head scratching NBC decision for the ages. It will not surprise me if Stern is “one and done”.
I agree 100%!! They should have named AGT “The Howard Stern Show”. He is sooooo boring! I did enjoy this show at one time. Even with Piers Morgan. At least when he and Howie argued it was funny. Howard is just obnoxious, narcissistic, and irritating. I don’t even bother to watch it anymore. I have a lot of friends who no longer watch it either because of Howard.
Howard Stern’s descent into obscurity is approaching its nadir. What these ratings signify is that the self-proclaimed King of All Media is less of a primetime draw than David HassselHoff, Piers Morgan, or Brandy. This can’t be argued with. If any good comes of this debacle it will be the cautionary tale that follows: don’t ever assume that success can be built on ego, toupees, and hair dye; you have to really deliver something to your demographic. Howard’s career peaked 14 years ago; the rest has been one long cash grab on the road to the graveyard of show business. It’s always sad to see the one’s we admired grow old, but it’s devastating to see them suffering in the spotlight as they desperately cling to something they can never have back.
Farewell, funny man. Enjoy your beautiful wife and your gilded lifestyle. Take heart in knowing that you once were the King, which is more than most can ever say.
First Hugh Hefner. Now Howard Stern. Where have all our role models gone??
speaking of commercials, thanks for the belabored one you forced on us. If this is part of Dish Net’s “social media strategy” they may want to think about hiring a new agency.
+1 Steve.
Lump Lump’s commercial stunk even worse than AGT.
Admin, can you clean up a mess on aisle two, please?
The execs at NBC that brought Stern over must be feeling some heat. They moved the show to the East coast for him, paid him a much larger salary than Piers Morgan and promoted the hell out of his arrival. and what did they get in return, dismal ratings especially in the 18-49 category. Big, big mistake.
Excellent post; sad but true.
America’s Got Talent and SYTYCD are making ABC’s The Bachelorette look like even more of a monster hit. Those ratings are shockingly low and let’s not forget they’re competing against CBS and ABC repeats on Wednesdays. There’s no way around it. Those ratings are quite pitiful.
I have one question: where’s the talent? which one of these acts is a las vegas money maker?
Boring.
The “Howard Stern Effect” is in play. His satellite radio audience has been steadily shrinking, on most recent live appearance on Letterman, he could no longer beat Leno and his last foray into TV, his old Saturday Night CBS show vs SNL failed miserably.
It has now reached a point, unfortunately where there’s a Midas Touch Effect – but in reverse on anything this uncomfortable looking and sounding goblin with the vacuous, plasticized middle aged trophy wife attempts. It’s hard to believe that America’s Got Talent, never a barn-burner but always performing better than this season, couldn’t instead have paid Stern’s arch nemesis Don Imus half of what NBC shelled out for Stern and still delivered the same, if not better ratings.
Look at law the free time Howard’s employees have now that he hardly works! I wish you guys would put this kind of effort into your show. Maybe Stern will get an award on Nickelodeon, now that he’s excepted into main stream america!
Well because the fix is already in and unless the producers decide to alter the outcome, a singer is going to win.
Also, what’s with the 5-7 minute intro’s?
Also, what’s with all the sappy stories? (I broke both my legs in a car accident…but now I can dance!), (I lost my family at 7, then placed in Foster care, kicked out of that house because of my ‘sexuality’ and was raised by parrots in the Jungle’s of Brazil…but now I sing opera!), blah, blah, blah…
Also, the wife of a guy who climaxed fame in the 70′s, an actor whose high point was co-starring with Fred Savage and a guy who used to be edgy before the Internet became widely used…these are the judges of talent in America?
Also, what’s with all the close-up belly and hip shots of 6-12 year-old kids?
And:
Howie–Tell us what your feeling
“Talent”–I don’t know, I’m just ‘uh, ‘uh
Howie–Are you crying?
“Talent”–’Uh…
Howie–Your crying! It’s Ok! Why are you crying?
“Talent”–I was raised by Parrots and now here I am on the Peacock network.
Howie—Go on, tell us ALL
…A stupid show that jumped the shark long ago.
About half of the top 48 don’t belong there. And Howard blaming Howie for one bad act is more than laughable. Stern has repeatedly promoted the wrost act ever to appear on AGT – the guy who takes the hits to the groin – yet has the nerve to criticize the other judges for their poor choices. Although I’m not a fan of Stern I like AGT and was willing to give it a try w/Stern. Originally I thought Howard was doing fine and certainly easier to tolerate than Piers Morgan – now I don’t think so and doubt that I’ll finish the season.
I never watched AGT before, but now that the KING is on it I watch every night it’s on. All the Howard haters comments on here are actually members of a Howard stern FAN website! I know I know if they pretend to hate Howard so much what are they doing on a Howard Stern fan website…They can’t answer that question
I think we all know they are just obsessed with Howard.
Howard Stern makes everything better
Get rid of howie, he’s horrible! And ratings will go up… Stern makes the show watchable:)
I agree . I don’t feel the talent level is as high as before. Howard always talks about how a performance can become boring. Well he’s right. I do a lot of fast forwarding. By the way I like all the judges. I don’t feel it’s their fault. I think it’s the producers fault on who they let through the judges can only work with what is handed to them.
