It’s summer all right and Fox scored with the boys of summer and the 2012 MLB All-Star Game (2.9/9) last night live from Kansas City. That fast national estimate is slightly down from last year’s final rating of 3.1, so expect it to change later in the day as final numbers come in. It wasn’t just the National League, with their trouncing of the American League, that cleaned up: The game pulled in 10 million total viewers, helping Fox win the night in viewers and the demo.
After a repeats and NBC’s Olympic Trials, some new ABC shows debuted last night: First was the premiere of the new comedy improv Trust Us With Your Life, which had Wimbledon winner Serena Williams as the celebrity guest at 9 PM (1.1/3), and Jack and Kelly Osbourne at 9:30 PM (1.1/3). Trust Us was down 42% from last year’s June 21 debut of 101 Ways To Leave A Game Show. It was followed by the debut of NY Med (1.2/3), the Terence Wong-produced eight-part hospital documentary series hosted by Dr. Oz. It was up 20% from the summer premiere of Final Witness on June 27. ABC kicked off primetime with a new episode of Wipeout (1.4/5) at 8 PM, which down 22% from last week for its lowest rating yet.
Sparks flew on America’s Got Talent (2.7/8) between judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel as this season’s second live quarterfinals episode from 8-10 PM was up 17% from last Tuesday’s season-low 9-10 PM show. Love In The Wild (1.3/4) was also up, rising 8% from last week’s series low. CBS was all repeats with NCIS (1.2/4), NCIS: LA (1.1/3) and 48 Hours Mystery (1.0/3).

Sad that AGT can pull such high viewer numbers and demo ratings against baseball. Decent debut numbers for a couple of the new ABC shows considering they opened against the All-Star game and a new 2hour AGT. Will be intersting to see if/how much growth ABC can obtain next week against easier competition.
Id watch this show as a regular series – its a well done reality show. My one complaint is that I would have wanted the episode to end with a WHERE ARE THEY NOW type recap. Did the guy with liver cancer who had 6 mos to live actually survive or did he die? What happened with the patient who asked the nurse out on a date? Where is the black guy who had heart surgery now? Is he having sex? Does the gay guy who had a bad Cialis reaction have any thing to say afterwards? ETC
I don’t see trust us doing big numbers but it was easily the funniest show of the night. It was good to see the who’s line guys back together
Weird scheduling throughout the summer ABC! I don’t see either improving and Olympics are coming.
Broadcast’s and ABC’s summer shows have been dreadful with a few exceptions. ABC should kiss Chris Harrison’s ring.
These ABC shows are just awful and seem so rushed just for the sake of putting that drivel on the air. FOX did well but the game was over after the first inning and NBC continues to show declines.
