UPDATE, 2:45 PM: Missy Franklin helped last night’s Olympics become the most-watched in 36 years with 31.6 million viewers. That’s still behind Montreal’s 37.7 million but ahead of the 30.2 million who watched the first Monday of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Glad the stupid ABC reality shows are tanking bigtime as a result of the Olympics, which should let them know that there’s way too much reality junk on TV as it is and hoping that both these shows don’t see a return for another season.
Congrats to NBC. Maybe now the haters who insist that the network is stupid for airing prime time on tape will go away.
The high ratings are a testament to popularity of the Olympics and the altheles themselves. NBC has a monopoly on Olympic coverage in the USA. So, the true effects of NBC’s shitty programming decisions won’t show until the fall when they spend another year in last place.
