The news of a division-wide reorganization comes a day after the Turner networks announced former Mark Burnett Productions exec David Eilenberg as the new SVP Unscripted Development. The updated structure will include new roles for three current executives, with Lillah McCarthy promoted to SVP of TNT and TBS Original Productions, heading up the networks’ in-house production company. She had been SVP Original Programming at TNT and TBS. “With an increased emphasis on building up our in-house production arm, we needed an executive who could bring true experience and great taste to the task,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies. “Lillah McCarthy has been a powerful force behind some of our most popular original series, making her an ideal choice to head up TBS and TNT Original Productions, an important and growing part of our business.” Since arriving at TNT to help develop The Closer, McCarthy has overseen development on Rizzoli & Isles, Leverage, Falling Skies and Franklin & Bash.

As part of the shuffle, former TBS VP Comedy Development Kathy Busby will become VP of TNT and TBS Original Productions, reporting to McCarthy. Former TNT VP Development Brett Weitz, meanwhile, has been upped to SVP Scripted Development for TNT and TBS. All four newly minted LA-based executives report to Wright. SVP Current Programs Sam Linsky and SVP Late Night & Specials David Hudson remain in their posts.

Brett is the most talented of the group–good for him! and always with a smile…
Brett is one of the most exceptional executives in the business. Well deserved promotion.
I’ve worked with Kathy Busby. Smart, talented, great notes!
Brett is one of the best execs in town. Also a really solid power cut so you know he is going places.
Sam, Brett, Lillah, and Michael are the best network execs I’ve ever worked with, and I’ve worked with most of them at one time or another. A dream for writers and producers. Cheers to all of them. Here’s hoping the restructure leads to continued success at TnT and TbS for years to come.
You work where you work. You live where you live. Brett – you da man.
Why are reruns of Angel & Married With Children all out synch these days. Angel skipped 1 year & Married With Children is all over the place. What is the problem?
Why was angel taken off the air? Angel has been a staple for TNT. I don’t see smallville getting the following that angel has had for years.
