Syfy’s Total Blackout has been renewed for 16 episodes. The first eight of the new episodes will launch Tuesday, November 13, the network confirmed. The game show places competing participants in challenging situations in complete darkness but they are visible to viewers. Total Blackout from FremantleMedia North America was Syfy’s highest-rated new show of 2012. Total Blackout has been licensed in several international markets and was created by Henrik Nielsen (Can You Duet?).

Furthering the reason to not watch this channel. Where’s the SciFi shows? Not this reality BS which has no place on this channel.. Well, it continues to be “the channel formerly known as SciFi” with good reason…
They really need to clean house from the top down.
As long as these shows are making them money…that will never happen.
On the one hand, if people tuned in to scripted sci-fi drama the way they do to these types of shows. They would get rid of the reality and do the scripted drama.
On the other hand, how will that happen if they focus on the reality and not the scripted dramas?
It looks like they are trying with shows like DEFIANCE. Hopefully, they can come up with more than ONE good one like BSG at a time. If that happens and the ratings are high…no more reality ghost shows.
It’s all about the dollar. Let’s hope DEFIANCE is a hit!!
Its not that they make money its that they dont cost any money. Networks need a place to put direct response ads, you only need a few of those calls to make up your $1500 dollar programming investment. lol

Starting with the silly “SyFy” name. What’s wrong with Sci-Fi? If they wanted to change anything, then do away with the “channel” and call it just Sci-Fi.
With rubbish like “Total Blackout” (aren’t there enough silly game and reality shows already?) one wishes SyFy a quick death, so it can be reborn as something that actually shows Sci-Fi.
This show is commonly referred to as “The Ass-sniffing Show”
As in, “my show wil never be as bad as….”

I agree with eveyone since they rebranded Sci-Fi or SeeFee whatever they want to he called they have abandoned their core and decided to go after a new audience and it will kill the network that said. This show is funny as hell.
Just cancel the entire network.

How sad that smelling other peoples asses and old socks in a dark room is one of Scy-Fy’s most highest rated shows. They have completely ruined this network over the last 5 years. Years ago I refused to get cable TV until my local operator got the Sci-Fi channel and now, I barely watch it. I don’t think the people in charge there have ever even watched a Sci-Fi or Fantasy movie or TV show. BBC is making some amazing Sci Fi shows: Why is SyFy not running them? Why did they cancel their best show, Eureka? Where are the Smallville or Star Trek Reruns? SyFy made some great mini-series a few years ago – why did they stop? Why did they not run a Dark Shadows or Marvel-oriented TV show marathrons the week those movies came out? Its like they don’t even think strategically to take advantage of what’s going on outside of their now (non-watched) network. It reminds me of Mel Brooks The Producers where the goal is to make the worst show ever seen on Broadway. Maybe they are trying to destroy this network so they can replace it with something else. If so, they are well on their way…

I so can’t wait for the day in the future that we actually get to pick our cable channels so that I can dump SyFy. You know a program is pure crap, when it is a constant feature on the Soup! I can only figure that since it is the SciFi or WTF SYFy airing this, that the viewers must be a bunch of freaks. I stopped watching the crap channel after BSG ended.
Well, they replaced the original executive producer (who also did Take Me Out and Million Dollar Money Flop) so maybe it’s got a chance to be good this season.
It’s simple economics. Without crap like this, and WWE, to bring in viewers and revenue, the true SciFi shows don’t even get made. Then the channel would disappear. Yes, they make terrible movies, too. But I still enjoy watching shows like Eureka (sadly going), Sanctuary, Alphas, Warehouse 13, Haven, etc. Without the revenue-producing crap, none of those would exist. Let’s be honest, you’re never going to see good science fiction on the broadcast networks.
I dont care about the name change, also I did question why Total Black Out would be on this channel, but I will say I do enjoy the show, and hope it continues soon.

I dnt see what gripe you have with this show as long as it’s not viewed for children to see or if they watch it with gaurdianship what’s the problem? What about all these other stupid shows that were not reality shows that were on the air u & millions of other people watch& there were some dummmmb one’s,”save by the what? & “malcolm stuck where? And the name of that zip code place? So before you go downing other shows,remember all shows were’nt big “hits” to everyone.
I cannot believe these people DONT find this HILLARIOUS !!! I mean really …even if these people were just doing this to face their fears or just to make people laugh….i laughed so hard I was hurting afterward ….so THANK YOU SYFY ….you & of course HISTORY are my favorite channels!!!!
